I hope we hurry up and have our new GM up and running and available to interview Quinn, Bowles and McDermott and be a key part of the selection. Woody please make the announcement already. PS - Jointly the GM/HC ought to start thinking ASAP about what to do with the six pick...more specifically in the presence of either Mariotta or Winston possibly still on the board. Or even start working a potential trade with the Rams or Cleveland.
I agree with you there, I don't think next year is going to be a miraculous turn around by any means. I can always hope though, the schedule for next season isn't atrocious. Since no one has really pulled the trigger on a HC (cept for good ol' Buffalo), it makes me wonder how many teams are actually holding out for Quinn. The HC market is pretty weak, and you would have to think most will have their eyes on the same people. At least the GM is locked down, hopefully he is getting some input on the next HC as well. Speaking of which, I wonder if they will bring back those they liked for a 2nd interview with the new GM, which starts with Bowles.
+1 I agree, and I wonder what's holding up the announcement?! It's Monday now, I thought it would have been announced this morning...
I want Quinn because he is a Superbowl winning coordinator and he may be a two time champion in a few weeks. That's something Bowles doesn't have on his resume, even Tho I initally wanted Bowles I've changed my mind to Quinn in the last week.Bowles looks like the favorite for the Falcons job
McDermott? The Panthers' D has been almost as good as the Seahawks' the last few years, in large part b/c of him.
Just to add my 2 cents, Bowles defense is built around the CB, he blitzes more than rex does. Do we really want to go down this road again on defense? I don't I wanted Quinn because of his desire to run the 4-3 and not build his defense around the CB.
I love how everyones so "proud" of Woody and the Jets for doing there due diligance and interviewing every coordinator in the league.Like there's some surprise guy that 31 other teams don't know about and we are gonna find a head coach to rebuild the franchise underneath a rock somewhere. The fact that we are interviewing so many people tells me the options are not great ,Quinn or Bowles is the only hire that makes sense at this point forget about interviewing anyone else,I'm sure we are gonna hear a report next that the Jets are bringing in "Clevelands Bus Scheduler" for an interview
None that I can see The Jets seem to like Quinn the most followed by Bowles, but they have to wait on Quinn, and who knows, Quinn and Bowles may both go elsewhere. If they have to wait anyways, there's no harm in continuing the search in the meanwhile, and cultivating back-up plans in case both Bowles and Quinn go elsewhere is just smart.
That's a really good point, especially since we don't currently have a shutdown CB on the roster to play Bowles' scheme, and those are hard to find.
I am still leaning towards Quinn but I have no reason to believe that Bowles wouldn't be equally good or better HC candidate than Quinn. Either are better than Marrone.
I don't think he is as stubborn as Rex Ryan though- I believe he adapts his scheme to the strengths of the players. Arizona just has a strong secondary. I could be wrong though. Either way, hiring a Head Coach shouldn't be about the short term but the long term. These corners are terrible but they don't have to be a terrible group forever with the cap room that exists here
Pretty confusing. If the deal is set with Quinn why bring in these guys. So maybe no informal agreement. Reports said they were all set to go to Seattle on Saturday if the Seahawks had lost to sign him.
Although all the reports have pretty much hired Quinn as the next Jets coach, since nothing is on paper we have to keep the process going.
