There's not a lot of great options available to us at QB, in the draft or FA. Is there any system, or coach that could make Geno a good QB? Let's say in 2 years. Does he show anything that gives you hope? I did see potential in a few games, can he turn his career around?
Honestly, I think his head gotten carried away, I also don't like the influence of Roc Nation on him...From a talent standpoint he has the tools to get things fixed, but he is not a leader out there on offense and has poor reads in the redzone.
He has the natural ability to absolutely be fixed. Unfortunately, QB is about more than just physical tools. I'm not sure he has it between the ears to be a franchise guy.
I agree, but given that he was thrown to the wolves early in his career, with some good coaching, and bench time can he improve? I don't expect an elite pocket passer, just a serviceable QB
If nothing else he is praised for his work ethic. He is a film rat he works on his game all through the offseason tirelessly. He does give an effort.
Geno 100% WILL NOT be fixed. He thinks he is good. He does not even realize how truly terrible he is. Can't win like that. Can't get better like that. He is a mess. He can be a serviceable QB. Meaning winning a couple games. But no, he will never be a franchise QB.
I don't know... He's truly a confusing player.. At times he makes good decisions and accurate throws, at others he looks like the worst qb to ever play the game. Lol he has no in between. I think he's better than sanchez was going into year 3, but that's not saying much. He's going to be back next year and will be given an opportunity, Primarily for the fact he makes relatively no money. This is his make or break year. Can he be fixed? I have no clue... Eithor hell shine or be out of the nfl. Lol
I think his struggles this year were incredibly overrated and with a year on the bench and a fresh start he can absolutely be a decent QB.
The term "fixable" suggests he's a competent NFL quarterback with a one or more flaws, that can be corrected, that are resulting in inadequate performance. I think the far more likely scenario is that he's simply not a competent NFL quarterback.
You're better than this. Geno knows he is not a pro bowl player, despite his "flashes" comment. He knows he has to improve, and he certainly isn't irrational about his own skill. You may be right. He may (likely will) never be a franchise Qb. But it's not because he overvalues himself.
I don't think he's the guy. Can he be a starter? Maybe. But he's not going to be a top 10 franchise QB, I don't even think he's going to be a top 20 starter. I'd say he's best suited as a career backup but that's just me.
I think the way the OP frames the question is not the proper way to do so. The real question should be how likely is it that Smith could or would if given even more of a chance become a good NFL Qb. That question demands a not likely answer.
It's possible. I want to see how he does with a brighter offensive mind. I'm not holding my breath but I also don't think its an impossibility that he can turn his career around
Geno has the talent but he doesn't have the skills. Can he be fixed? Sure, with the right QB whisperer and time. Do we want to wait for this to happen, knowing all along that he might fail as well even given the right situation? I'd rather the Jets went and got a QB to play right now while they developed somebody. Could Geno be the guy they developed? I guess.
This is a make or break season for Geno. He has enough game experience and starts to play consistently and successfully run an offense.if he doesn't then he'll have a short career like Leinert, etc.
