This is exactly what I was referring to in my earlier post from about half an hour ago. If that was "not a catch," then the Dez catch wasn't a catch.
He took three steps, it was a football move when his right hand hit the ground and pull forward for the TD. AND he was down when his right elbow hit the ground. So you are telling me he was not down despite having control and elbow touching the ground?
The storyline of this game should be Rodgers. Prove to me that Dallas holds off Rodgers even if that results in a TD and they have a 1 or 3 point lead with 3 mins left against the red-hot MVP. Packers win no matter what, this was not the final play of the game. Dallas also had 2 opportunities to stop the Packers afterward and get the ball back. The storyline is simple - they weren't good enough.
They have been calling it this way for a while, it's not what fans want to hear but they have been consistent.
huh? Being down or not down is relevant for FUMBLES, not regarding whether a player completed the process of a catch
What about the other 120 plays they could have done something? Dallas wasn't good enough to win, they had 4 quarters of plays to get it done.
I do think GB had a pretty good chance of winning even if that's a catch, but it could've gone either way. We'll never know.
And how can he make a football move when he is on the ground? and the moment his right elbow hit the ground he is a down receiver, he cant advance the ball or anything the moment he is down.
Im not discussing that right now, I dont really care, congrats to Green Bay, good luck in the championship game. My focus is now on this play.
Exactly. Not every call goes your way. I recall a dubious PI early in the game that sure went the Cowboys way that directly led to a TD the next play. There are a lot of plays in a football game and this was not a game that came down to the last play. Make better plays throughout the course of the game, or just whine after a loss. Simple to me
I had 3 parlays with Dallas winning. 1 parlay with Green Bay covering 5.5. I got fucked thru and thru. When will Petro start vBetting again. Tired of losing real money
That rule needs to be cleaned up. After 3 steps had the ball crossed the goal line before he hit the ground, it would have been ruled a touchdown.
I'm not even a Cowboys fan but I am beyond salty about that call. As a football fan and a casual player, I can't believe that wasn't a catch. Unfair, that rule needs to be tweaked big time. The amount of effort Dez put in to go up, get possession of the ball, and maintain all the possession he had throughout the catch, it is unfair to take that away from him because of a technicality. This is football, like what the hell.
Mike on fox explain that steps don't matter when going to the ground. So the steps don't matter in a football move. It's a very dumb rule that hopefully gets cleared up somehow in the offseason
So his elbow is down, he was contacted. Took three steps. Made a football move for the endzone. So lets say he held on to it and scored the TD? Guess what, guess where it would get overturned and placed? Right above, the moment his elbow hit the ground is where the play would be called down. Luckily I am a Jets fan but If my season ended like this I would be upset, not at Green Bay, but at the rule makers and possibly the referees.
