No no you cant have them together. Guys like Idzik value quantity over quality. He wanted to nitpick every dollar because he doesnt believe in paying big contracts. Thats fine, the other option is to pay big contracts and be hollow after that. (Like Indy). Obviously the cure to either is to draft strongly, which Idzik couldnt do. If this guy can draft strongly then he can spend and get the good players in here.
Not sure but im sure he has guys. But can this guy handle NY: Better be ready because Houston is not tristate.....
I imagine we'll schedule a meeting with Kubiak soon. The question is if we have the opportunity to hire Kubiak do we pass it up in the hopes of getting Quinn? What if we pass up Kubiak and Quinn goes elsewhere? Then we're pretty much screwed. I know there could have already been a handshake deal between Quinn and Woody but not sure I want to gamble such an important part of the franchise (referring to the head coaching position) on a handshake.
Dan Quinn is from Jersey and coached the Jets in 2007-2008. I personally think he would consider this a dream job. But I don't know... I hope we hire Quinn or Bowles in case we don't, I hear hiring a coach in Feb is almost something that never happens
I think the majority of what you perceive here is actually the work of Idzik. Even though he was fired, he actually left a pretty desirable situation for the next GM who takes the reins. That plays a huge role - contrary to the media agenda, the Jets GM job is a nice situation for a GM to walk into.
We don't have a lot of time between now and Draft day 2015. We're gonna need leadership IN PLACE. We're gonna need a vision and a plan as well. I can see us waiting on Quinn IF he's really the guy but it wouldn't surprise me at all if a darkhorse comes along and wins the job. I've been critical of Woody in the past but in this instance, I'm glad he's not letting Casserly rush him into a decision. Maybe Woody is finally getting this NFL Owner thing down pat.
From what I heard on the radio this morning, Woodrow was not comfortable with Marone during the interview. Even if Casserly suggested a team of Marone and Mac. Woodrow was not on board with that, personally I could see Mac as GM, Kubiak as HC and Scwartz as DC. JMO
So why don't they just hire him already, why does all of this take so dang long! ......stupid beaurocracy smh.
It'll come out tomorrow for the sake of press; it would get drowned out by the playoffs if they hired Maccagnan today.
I like the fact that he's from Jersey. I do think there's some value in having an understanding of the area and what your walking into.
