This is awful news. This team is a joke. Just a fucking joke. I am one of the dumbest Jets fans in history. I've never even lived in NY/NJ area, yet, I'm a Jets fan. Out of all the teams I could've been a fan of, I pick the Jets at an early age because green is my favorite color. Rex Ryan is a great coach. We are going to be in agony as fans because of this move. Those that are so confident that he sucked, well, we are about to find out. I personally believe he is going to whoop our asses over and over again. Only time will tell. I really wanted Rex to go to the NFC. Damn...
I agree. He had his strengths but he had his weaknesses also and his weaknesses weren't improving. Maybe getting fired will help him to improve as a coach.
They have nothing to trade for a top first round pick. Their earliest pick is mid second round. All this hand wringing about a mediocre coach going to a mediocre team. He has the same personnel in Buffalo he had with the Jets and the same philosophy that those of who paid attention for six years knows does not win divisions or championships.
This move is exactly about that. Revenge against the Jets and nothing else. So be it. Quinn vs. Ryan 2x's a season. this should be interesting with the backdrop and all. Better than Rex vs. Belichek by a long shot.
See this is a perfect scenario for a fan like you. Now we get to go against a Rex Ryan team twice a year, hope your opinion holds true, that we shouldn't be worried about it as fans, I personally think we are going find out first hand how much of a mistake it was to fire the guy.
Signing Dan Quinn is like signing Rex Ryan 6 years ago with a less impressive resume..Was a good DC but you don't know what you get for HC. Will be nice hire he has potential but I wouldn't declare him a better HC right out of the gate.
that defensive line, coached by Rex, playing against Geno or a rookie (or even a journeyman) QB? i'd anticipate the stats to be well padded against the Jets.
I don't think he is a Mediocre coach, I think he is much more than that. I think if he was given the tools that he needed, he would've been a consistent winner. He's philosophy was championship caliber for two years in a row, considering he got to a AFCCG two years in a row. He went deep into the playoffs, beat some really good teams along the way, all while having a lesser roster. Problem is, that roster got worse and worse as the years past, you can only do so much with the rosters we've had. Buffalo has a much better talent group then we do currently. Their only real flaw is at QB. We have multiple holes on this roster that need to be upgraded, the Bills really aren't in that position right now.
He didn't have a roster worth a fuck in many years either. That shit goes hand in hand. We'll see... I have a feeling this move is going to make so many people regret the firing of RR. We shall see.
Rex on the Bills is just terrible news. have to face him twice a year with whatever slapdick QB we trot out there, and ultimately not a good situation for Ryan either. Buff has no QB or first round pick. Ryan, like just about every other coach, will need that QB for any chance of long term success.
look, i'm really REALLY sad about this, but i'm not going to act like we are fucked for the next 20 years they have no QB and no first round pick. sure, their defense will be good, but ours was 6th this year in total defense and we only won 4 games. rex is being overrated more than ever now by the fans, he didn't go over .500 the past 3 years it's also apparent he did this because of the pats i think. he LOVES playing them and knows how to rattle brady. i think we played some part in this, but not as much as people think
I think he WILL be successful - I don't think he's going to outright fail at all. However, I expect that just like AJ Burnett, the perception of his skills/talent won't match the on-field results. I guy like Burnett had solid success over his career with both incredible flashes of dominance and infuriating moments of ineptitude, but he never fully put it together the way everyone was waiting for. I personally think Rex is in that same category.
Figures that the Rexaholics all think Buffalo just became a hybrid of the 2000 Ravens on defense and the Randy Moss Patriots of a bygone era. Yeah, Rex is a good DC but the world did not suddenly come to an end because he's gonna coach the Bills. When Rex goes 17-2 and wins the SB, pass me the koolaid but until that happens, I hope the Jets burn the 3rd down blitz every time Ryan runs it and takes full advantage of the clock management mistakes we all know will come. Rex may be the Bills coach now, but frankly I don't give a shit one way or the other because I'm a Jets fan, not a Ryan fan and certainly not a Bills fan.
