I'm pretty sure it's "Mc-Canyon", based on the spelling; that G should be silent. But I don't know for sure how he pronounces it. ....but then again Jameis Winston's name should be pronounced Ja-MAY-is based on how it's spelled, so who the hell knows anymore. Nobody understands English grammar anymore, they don't really teach it in public schools like they used to.
Some may, now both GM positions are filled, with 5 HC positions open. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Bowles and Kubiak with jobs by tomorrow. If I had to hazard a guess, I think Bowles is best suited for Atlanta. Much like Rex, he'd be able to focus on the defense there and let Matt Ryan go to work. I could see Kubiak going to Oakland too. Marrone may end up in Chicago. This is all assuming Quinn has basically made up his mind to come to the Jets
"New York Jets: NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported that the Jetsare expected to hire Texans college scouting director Mike Maccagnan as their new general manager. Rapoport also said that there's mutual interest between the Jets and Dan Quinn, who would bring in Kyle Shanahan as offensive coordinator if the former became Gang Green's new head coach. He's listed as co-front-runner along with Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles. New York has also interviewed former Bills coach Doug Marrone, Seahawks offensive line coachTom Cable and Chargers offensive coordinator Frank Reich for head coach. The Jets have also requested to interview Ravens offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak for head coach." http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000451073/article/coaching-visits-tracker
Would not put it past them to. Anything to be attention whores and to make a quick buck off hits, someone will find it. Might not even be surprised if the website begins after the NFL Draft.
After thinking more about the hire, I'm on board. Texans have a lot of talent on the team, just missing a piece or two. The upside to this is it most likely means we will get a new scouting department. Things seem different this time than it did 2 years ago. Before we hired Idzik, reports came out that Woody was willing to put together a $1,000,000 moving package for some GM candidates, but they stayed away from the team. Now, it seems the Jets got the guy they wanted AND one of the higher sought after coaches wants to be the Jets HC. Seems like Woody has turned a corner and admitted he knows jack shit about running a football team and is handing the keys over to people that know what needs to be done. No way we get the people we wanted if it was all Woody.
This guy has been the choice since before his second interview. Jets gave him the second interview just to be absolutely sure.
Agreed. Just saying its probably not a coincidence that he was hired today as well. Woody is on shaky terms with our fans. He wakes up this morning to news that Rex is going to a division rival, so he needs to make sure Jet fans dont jump off a bridge so he quickly prints up the paperwork to get a GM in here. I remember the 2-3 hour period between Revis signing in NE and Decker signing here as the biggest code red ever. Not a shock that he would try to soften the blow by redirecting our focus. Plus if Quinn wasnt still in the playoffs, he'd be hired today too.
So, now we need a cap guru... Should have slid Idzik into that role, then hired a GM and new HC. Oh well, lets go find a Cap Guru and have a GD snack!
definite super bowl, obviously the biggest problem we had last time was the order of the hirings. Not the shambolic handling the CB situation in free agency and draft
