Looking at Macagnan's history it looks to be almost essential that we get someone in alongside him with experience of FO operations other than scouting.
I like the idea of having a GM with a scouting background, hopefully he's able to deal with all of the other elements of a GM's job, but he'll have assistants anyway to help with that kind of stuff.
Wow....does that mean McCagnan is already on board, and also that he wants to hire Quinn? Can we conclude those things?
Sure sounds like it. Bears are moving on to Kubiak, Bills get Rex, Falcons haven't been linked to him, and the Raiders have no chance so the 49ers are the only competition to get Quinn at this point.
I'd say so. Like Cimini said in that tweet they were probably going to fly into Seattle and then jointly announce the hiring of MacCagnan and Quinn but now that that isn't an option they will announce MacCagnan today or tomorrow so they can say he will be part of the coaching search and then they will interview Kubiak and then Quinn when he's available and go from there.
I like the sound of this, from what I gather he has experience in scouting and personnel oversight but not with the salary cap?
Sounds like it will come down to what the Falcons and 49ers do. I've read that the 49ers really like McDaniels, and the Falcons have some interest in him too. So whichever of those teams doesn't get him might turn to Quinn....guess it will depend on whether or not those reports that Quinn wants to come to NY are accurate...
I wonder if we will be reading soon that they have scheduled an interview with Kubiak, now that the Ravens lost? ....... I crave a constant supply of news, rumors, tweets, etc on this until it all becomes official, the suspense is killing me!
9-7 and winning season. But they did screw up not taking Bortles with the first pick, or Carr with the second.
