UFA Walks: Kenrick Ellis (NT) Leger Douzable (DT) David Harris (ILB) Nick Bellore (ILB) Kyle Wilson (CB) Dawan Landry (S) Willie Colon (OG) Ben Ijalana (OT) Michael Vick (QB) Bilal Powell (RB) Cuts: Chris Johnson (RB) Jeff Cumberland (TE) UFA Re-signings: Phillip Adams (CB) John Conner (FB) Tanner Purdum (LS) RFA/ERFA Tenders Damon Harrison (NT) Jaiquawn Jarrett (S) Greg Salas (WR) Re-Structures: Percy Harvin (WR) FA Signings: Jason Pierre-Paul (DE)* KJ Wright (OLB) Brandon Marshall (OLB) Darrelle Revis (CB)* Brian Hoyer (QB) Mike Iupati (OG)* Shane Vereen (RB) I think DE, CB and OL are the three major places where we need to invest money and youth. Iupati, Revis and Pierre-Paul are all going to be high ticket players, but I'd be prepared to shell out the money to acquire them. Obviously Revis is older but I would just make sure his deal is not very long term, just a couple years. I want Revis more than Byron Maxwell because I'm more confident in the consistency Revis will bring vs. what Maxwell will bring. On a side note, my Ideal draft either consists of taking an offensive tackle high and then trading back up into the late 1st for Kevin White, or trading back into the middle first and grabbing Kevin White and getting couple extra picks in the process. I'm very high on Kevin White obviously, and I just don't see Mariota being available at 6.
It's unfortunate the new coaching staff cannot have a look at these guys before FA. The big names you listed will be a lot of money tied up again on defense, along with the guys we have.
Revis not coming back JPP would be a LDE in Quinn's D not a LEO so he's useless since Mo is the LDE and JPP will cost a ton Hoyer will come in and compete with our Rookie QB KJ Wright isn't a FA I think Maxwell seems likely unless he gets a huge offer elsewhere or re-ups with Seattle Harvin has said he wont restructure and Quinn knows what he's about if Seattle moved him the he'll be cut
kj wright isn't a free agent. Malcolm smith on the other hand is, so you can add the sb mvp to your list. hoyer would make SO much sense if shanahan was our OC, he would instantly become the teams starter, rookie be damned.
Seriously how many f'n threads do we need with 48 free agent signings, with half involving Mevis. HE IS NOT COMING BACK. GET OVER IT.
Well we do have a draft forum. That's pretty much good enough. I'm just sick of seeing these threads made with the expectations of a 12 year old.
Oh did Wright sign a contract over the last couple months? I guess somehow I missed that. You can either replace him with Malcolm Smith, or you could move DeMario Davis to OLB and sign Mason Foster or Rolando McClain at MLB. Other than that I don't think this is all that unrealistic. Unlikely maybe, but not unrealistic.
Enough with us signing JPP or Suh. It's NOT happening, D line is our strength, there's no need to throw a huge chunk of our money at a position where we're goin go to have to pay Mo and Sheldon soon. Hell, Babin played terrific this year and can probably start at 4-3.
I agree with this. We can't lock up a big contract for a dlineman. That money needs to be spent on Wilk and later Sheldon. And it sounds like this years draft is deep with pass rushing lineman so if we want to sure up the ends there should be options there.
How is there a thread under a new coaching staff when we haven't signed anyone yet? Dan Quinn won't be available likely for at least another couple weeks. What makes you think Woody waits for him? I'm not saying he won't or it's not likely, but it is still an unknown. Starting a thread about a ghost coaching staff we have?
It's more relevant than an looking at FA without a coach in mind, otherwise there's no strategy or methodology. Dan Quinn is the most likely candidate so he's the logical choice for a hypothetical FA period. I may do another hypothetical with another coach in mind, is that going to be an issue with you as well?
We don't have a legit threat coming off the edge, let's be honest. We have to get better and we should spend money on the impact positions, which is edge rusher and CB. Babin is fine but just fine. He is not the starting weak side rusher on a good team though. Sheldon has two years left on his rookie deal plus the 5th year option, so there's plenty of time between now and then. Quinn's defense has relied on a good combination of edge rushers including Michael Bennett, Cliff Avril, and Bruce Irvin. The Jets have Quinton Coples who is talented but a less productive edge rusher than any of those three. This is when we have the money, so we should use it on players who can genuinely help us. Even if it's not JPP, we should really go after serious edge rushing talent.
That's like saying its retarded to talk about any of the draftable QB's or anything hypothetical period. Go shit on something else, pardon me fore speculating while we wait for news.
There's a difference between hypotheticals concerning a strong coaching candidate and a few basic Free Agents and hypotheticals concerning scheme which would have to based on coaching, free agents and drafted players, just saying. Besides if someone really wanted to do a hypothetical about offensive scheme with Winston playing QB that would probably be pretty interesting, albeit somewhat convoluted considering all the variables.
