Rex's time was up. I like him but you can't saddle yet another GM with Rex. So you either keep Idzik/Rex together or you fire both.
I'm on the Quinn bandwagon. I think he's the best guy out there, best fit for this team. I trust in the words of Sherman. Don't let me down Richard.
And how do we know he's a better HC?? He's NEVER BEEN ONE. AGAIN. It's been nearly 20 years since we hired someone who doesn't require on the job training. And good luck running that defense, which is really Pete Carroll's, with our putrid secondary and no pass rushers.
If the Seahawks make it to the SB, would you wait for Quinn, and risk losing out on all of the hot coaching commodities? Or would it be better to hire Bowles in that case; ie. one in the hand is worth 2 in the bush? I just saw this interesting new NFL.com article on the Jets' situation: some new twists, both in the article and video: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...ork-jets-in-a-conundrum-waiting-for-dan-quinn If the Pats lose and Seattle wins today, would you go for Josh McDaniels instead? If the 49ers don't hire McDaniels, they might steal Quinn away from us. Or, again, do we go the "safe" route and hire Bowles right now? ...... lots of possibilities!
Quinn is our guy. But according to Howard Stern, Larry David is a shoo in for our OC. Now that's exciting! After all, he drew up some great plays when he played with his friends in Waldbaums parking lot in Brooklyn as a kid. Lol
What kind of dumb fuck argument is this? Rex is gone because he was a bad head coach. Quinn will be hired because he is hopefully going to be a better head coach. Who is the better defensive coordinator is irrelevant. By your logic no head coach should ever be fired if they were a great coordinator. News flash -- all head coaches were great at their previous coordinator level. That is why they were hired to be head coaches. But if they aren't doing the job as HC you don't keep them just because they were great coordinators. Dumb dumb.
Hold out for Quinn absolutely. Not a fan of McDaniels at all. Let's not forget he's the same guy who spent a first round pick on Tebow.
Nobody knows but it doesn't change the fact that that is the goal and expectation in hiring any new coach.
But he also spent a first round pick on Demaryius Thomas in that same draft. And Tebow actually had a great season in Denver when he was pulling off all those "miracle" comebacks and beat the Steelers in the Wild Card playoffs. (not saying Tebow is a great QB overall, but I think McDaniels drafted pretty well in Denver overall)
We don't know, but we do know Rex did not step up to the task as a HC, so I suppose it's the devil we don't know.
You can forget about McDaniels even if we wanted him... There is no way he goes against St. Bellichik and comes to the Jets. Remember how Mangini was basically disowned when he came to work for us.
