I tend to avoid saying anything that might sound sympathetic to the Giants, but I would include them on your list, not so much for recent events, to be sure, as the media on balance seems to like Coughlin. I do, up to a point, too, the old Irish bastid. But think of the difficulties Reeves had, and some others. The Boston media is pretty aggressive, too. They tend to give Belichik a wide berth for obvious reasons, but they have their moments. And isn't the Dallas media pretty aggressive about the Cboys?
It does a little... The media will attack anyone at anytime, and the jets instability at qb makes this a tough job... For example Atlanta has one of the worst defenses ever, no one cares. That's fixable, the fact they have matt Ryan makes that the most appealing job. Jets are going to do all they can to try and draft another qb... That's what 3 in 7 years. Lol
Boomer should be one to talk. Right or wrong he knocks the Jets a good bit. This is a Tough city but as Frank S. said "If you make it there U can make it anywhere".
I get a sense that with this go round, the search process, the fresh slate, etc, the Jets are not being looked at as a scary job. I think it is a job that is wanted. I don't think they're going to get the turn downs they got the last time, although I don't think Reich will take the job, as mentioned earlier. That being said, a few posters stated that everything changes if we win, and one or two questioned why we were so impatient. Here's the thing, it's obvious that winning cures what ails you. But if we go 6-10, 7-8 or 8-8, do you think we'll get any slack? And with the knowledge that anything less than a winning season will probably set the media hounds howling again, who among us is not going to be impatient with any sub par season.
Oh, I am sorry. With the number of 3rd-grade-level personal attacks in your typical post, I find it more efficient to assume you have none. Seems pretty different to me. Tanenbaum got 7 years on the job and a chance to put his vision in place. When that vision crumbled his last 2 years, firing him was a reasonable thing to do. Idzik was fired 2 years in, after coming into a much worse situation than Tanenbaum. Apples and oranges, my angry friend.
Yes...We are no different then most fan bases when there team sucks you just hear about more because it in NY.
boomer can go bite a big one. telling people he hopes they get a hc job but not here. Boomer is part of the issue. In the last 6 yrs how much was Rex really bashed by the fans.... even in loosing people called him out on the choices but not one fan attacked his family. The media is a large part of the issue, Mannish in particular. Sorry boomer for a Life Long Jet fan you sure love to make money bashing the team, you know the one that you played for the one you rooted for and now the one you currently blast when giving the chance so you can make money. I hope Rex goes somewhere and is successful just not against the Jets. How about that venom and outrage against a loosing coach......
I think it's more to it than just being in NY. The Giants stunk this year and they don't get half as much hate as we do.
If you ask why the Jets are more hated around the country than the Giants good question. The perception is they have a higher class organization with the Maras over Woody. Plus the 2 recent Super Bowls to our none. And the portrayal of the Jets operation on Hardkocks which was hardly flattering.
What are you talking about? The media bitched and bitched and bitched that Mangini ran the team like Belichick and nobody was allowed to talk openly to the press. After the first "Mangenius" year, things were as negative as always ... and the truth is, the media mocked the Mangenius label that first year too (especially WFAN). Things were even negative when they were the best team in football two years later when they were a top team (because most of the NY media hates Favre and were mad he was playing well); and the negativism exploded once Favre got hurt. There were tons of stories about how Mangini/Tannenbaum forced Favre to play hurt, and lied to the press about the extent of the injury.
Why cant we get a GM and Coach who is at least honest and open with the FANS, Trust I think we can take the truth knowing how bad its going to be. Come out and say it " This team needs a lot of help and time to be fixed " Let us know what the game plan you have to fix and the course of action you will be taken and then the fans and press really has nothing to say. Almost like saying YEAH we SUCK now, But this is how was are going to fix it going forward.
Weren't we told the team was rebuilding 2 years ago? Then once we saw the ugliness of what a rebuild could look like the media and fans couldn't handle it?
I probably should try a 3rd grade level, since then you might understand it. The point is that the controversies surrounding the GM search after Tanny was fired were greater than they seem to be now. So you can't isolate Idzik's termination following "only" two years as the main reason or even a significant one now for any controversies that may be going on. If you don't get that point yet again, maybe I will try and rewrite it on the 3rd grade level.
The media has a heavy infulence because of our owner,Marrone was a hot candidate and the favorite to land the job. Then the media went after him because they don't want to cover him and deal with him for a few years. We may end up thanking Manish at some point,I truly belive our idiot owner pays attention to all of this stuff and reads every newspaper and other media reports
