I dont hate this move as much as I thought I would about a week ago, assuming its true.

I guess it's not fair to say a defensive minded HC can't build an offense just because Rex couldnt.

This was reported to have been said on the Dan Patrick show this morning.

La Canfora said and Mary Kay Cabbot confirmed that Quinn is trying to create a package with Kyle Shannahan. Quinn seems to be acting diligently in the area where Rex probably failed, building a staff and working with a talent evaluator general manager.

That's not my point. My point was in relation to one single signal caller. By no stretch of the imagination is one easier to run than the other. If I came off that way, I apologize for that.

When Peyton Manning is running an offense, he has so much experience and talent it's that much easier for an offensive coordinator. There's no such thing as easy, but it is much easier to run an offense led by Peyton Manning than an offense ran by Geno Smith. But in relation to a defense, it is much more than a single play caller. If your front seven sucks, your secondary suffers. If your secondary sucks, your defense suffers as a whole. If you can stop the run but you can't stop the pass, your defense folds. If your safeties have trouble keeping people in front, your secondary gets burned. There's many many pieces to a defense that all need to be running smoothly at the same point in order for it to succeed.

Peyton Manning struggles, you run the ball. Peyton Manning is on fire, you throw the ball. A defense reacts, but the offense dictates like you said. If Manning sees a scheme he doesn't like, he audibles. If the defense sees the audible, it's very hard to react accordingly in the time given before the snap. Thus, the defense is on its heels. Making the defense that much more difficult to keep in contention with the opposing offense.

In my opinion, running a defense has a lot more things going on for it to be an elite unit. It is very rare you find a offense with a Hall of fame QB not do well.

He's the hottest candidate out there right now. He's interviewed with every team and has been very successful in Seattle unlike other candidates such as the one in Buffalo. The rumor is that he has plans to bring Kyle Shanahan along with him as OC but regardless of who takes over it's unfair to say a defensive coach can't have success on O because Rex couldn't.

If this is the case, enter the 4-3 defense. Should be interesting how he adds on this defense. Player that prob benefits most from this could be Coples.

I hope this is true. And the timing makes sense considering the release of Shanahan and the rumors of Quinn wanting him to come with him wherever he goes.

The article said he believes it will be Quinn but that gives him plenty of wiggle room if it doesn't happen. But I tend to believe it esp if he's been calling around and trying to line up assistant coaches. But he's interviewed with a number of teams. It doesn't mean the Jets are the one.

This kinda reminds me of the time Tim Cowlishaw got reports from someone in Dallas that the Revis holdout was going to end. It eventually did, but not in the time frame he reported. I will never trust another word from that guy's mouth again. and I won't believe this report from Alex Marvez until the Jets confirm it or multiple sources confirm it.

Agreed , thats what i'm saying.

He has ties to the Jets organization as well as the are so he knows what he's jumping into. He's not the first guy I would have hired but he's a hot candidate like you said and the Jets are hoping they've found the next great coach. I'm fine with the hire if it's true.

Personally, just the fact that he runs a 4-3 defense and does not need to use exotic blitz packages to make a talented defense successful is a sigh of relief for me.

But with the jets, it comes down to the offensive side of the ball, can he get the right OC to play to the strengths of this team? Using play action pass after running the ball well. Getting Geno or the next QB to be consistent, that's the bottom line.

Let me gets this right? We got rid of one if not the best defensive minds in the game and replace him with a D guy with a shit load of talent on D front and backside. Now we are going to bring in KS who hasn't done shit as a OC. O my bad I get it SAME OLD SORRY ASS FUCKING JETS.

There's an entire other thread where we are discussing that.

Yes, he had a stacked defense, but since he's been there they have gone up in rankings every year. Go read on the guy before you start making claims about him.
