I would just rock with Geno for one more year... But either way I would be good.. Just don't want Winston or Mariota on this team.
Would be fantastic to retain Coach Dunbar. He's done a damn amazing job especially the past two years. I bet he follows Rex to ATL or wherever he goes but we should at least make a run to bring him back. Our D-Line will not be happy about losing him on top of Rex.
If you get Bradford you're still working with Geno, because as you've pointed out Geno may need to play again still. I see it as insurance against another Geno implosion.
I don't buy that. I have never understood this. Yeah, he came in with a talented roster, but that roster needs to perform each and every week. That all falls on the defensive coordinator. And just like you said, he has progressively gotten better and better every year. Let's not forget the most genius defensive performance to win a super bowl last year against Peyton Manning and that juggernaut of an offense. That's a lot of game planning and one hell of a system he ran to stop him.
Guy is a defensive line genius.. Look at what he did in Minnesota and that line before he came to us.. We need to retain him at all cost.
Just don't want another offseason with a fucking QB competition bonanza.. Would like to just go in with a starter already in place.
But that triangle scheme could be shit without the tremendous corners and safeties they have there. Who knows.. not trying to pick on Quinn just not going to rejoice if he's the guy either.
Agree 100%. We do not have the Cam Chancellor or Earl Thomas to make that shit work... I think if Pryor elevates his game and we go out and get McCourty from the Patriots we could be ok... Bring in Byron Maxwell and have him play the number 1 with Milliner playing the number 2 and McDougle in the slot.
What I mean is like with Gus Bradley, I just wonder how responsible he was for the strength of the Seattle D or if Quinn inherited this powerhouse defense. Carroll has a defensive pedigree dating back years ago as well. Bradley hasn't lit the world on fire in JAX and he even got to bring in a few Seahawk defenders in the offseason yet they still had hiccups vs the run. Its not to say Quinn is clueless on defense, he clearly isn't....but I just wonder how much of that Seahawks defensive success these past 2 seasons are on him or how much of it is on Carroll or better yet the players themselves? This isnt' a case like Rex Ryan who was Ravens DCoordinator for ____________ years and spit out strong defense after strong defense, this is more of a Chuck Pagano case and right now, he doesn't have that great of a Colts defense. That's the kind of coach I see Quinn sort of following under, Pagano. Now Pagano's been in the playoffs since he's been Colts HC but then again having Andrew Luck as your QB never hurts. Quinn can only dream of getting that.
That's understandable, but I feel like rolling into next season with Geno and Simms is akin to punting the season. Low probability of that working out favorably.
He's been on his own without his dad a few times (Houston and Cleveland). You would think if that were the issue that he has had enough non-dad exposure.
You don't buy what? That he inherited a stacked roster? That the defense was ranked 9th overall in 2011 then 4th overall in 2012 prior to his arrival?
Excellent read on Quinn and his abilities as a defensive coach: http://mmqb.si.com/2014/08/06/dan-quinn-seattle-seahawks/ Uses players skillsets to place them where they can succeed. Also he is an apparent genius in the film room and watched over 2 years of Peyton Manning snaps to beat him like he did in the super bowl. Guy is a defensive genius.
