Why wear masks and bring your id's...... Just strange ......

The 18 year old who turned himself in apparently has alibis.

Hamyd is being described as a suspect but reports - some unconfirmed and all from unnamed sources - surfaced a few hours ago that he did so only because he saw his name published online. Itele cited its own sources when it reported Hamyd went to police to tell them he was innocent and had been in school at the time of the attack.

Social media in France is now showing numerous apparent students and friends proclaiming Hamyd’s innocence, with some posting under the hashtag “#MouradHamydInnocent” that he had been with them in class.

    #MouradHamydInnocent

Balaklava wearing gun men stated that they were with Al Qaida

7.10 pm: They said they were Al Qaida, says cartoonist who let men in at gunpoint

    Killers 'claimed to be al-Qaida

That was an interesting tidbit from reddit take it as you will

Which ID was found? If they found the 18 year old's ID it could have been a plant to throw pursuers off their trail. This assuming he was actually in class. You have to think there will be security cameras around the campus that will verify or throw doubt into that claim.

This doesn't compare to 9/11 on any scale.

Actually it does. 9/11 changed America in ways that we still don't fully comprehend. The country we live in right now is not as prosperous or free as the country that we live in on Sept 10th 2001. We've spent literally trillions of dollars fighting in the desert against rats that just scurry back into their holes if they see us coming. We're using million dollar fly swatters on a daily basis.

What this attack is aimed at is freedom of the press. It's designed to suppress criticism of radical Islam that sometimes steps over the boundary into criticism of Islam. If a hundred small media organizations take note and curb their opinions it's a minor although very real setback. If the major media concerns decide to do so, well that's a watershed in Western culture at this point. Sony was cowed by digital terrorists a short time ago. We'll see what the major organizations do when the cost of speaking their mind is millions of dollars of additional security arrangements.

"any" ? It's a crackpot Islamist attack on Western freedom, specifically freedom of speech, and the largest attack in France in 50 years. Much smaller scale, but similar

Apparently there are two hostage situations in Paris. Damn! The brothers are cornered while someone else has killed an officer and hostages in a kosher store.

I guess the good thing is that it will be over soon, the bad thing is that the hostages are likely going to die in the process. I'm sure the police are being cautious but my concern would be that this was always part of their plan (to fall back to this location) and that they have the placed traps or something to kill the police when they try to get in there. But, again, I'm sure the police are well trained for these situations and considering that.

I read once that the ISIS/ISIL forces believe that if they are killed by a woman that they will not be allowed into heaven...can anyone more educated on the matter speak to that? Just curious if there is any merit to that or if it's just Internet garbage. If that's their believe I'd let them know that they have a pair of female snipers ready to fire if they harm the hostages.

I was in Paris several years ago. I noticed that around the Eiffel Tower, there were paramilitary police patrolling the area. All were armed with Submachineguns and BPV's. I didn't understand why they needed that level of armament. I get it now..

Ah yes. Let's drill down into the minds of murderers and minimize their atrocity by inventing some imaginary distinction between what they were trying to do and what they actually did. It's not just you, Br4d, so you should have a clear conscience here. It's SOP in the self-loathing community. And, as with everything else, I blame the Jets.

Hi deerow84. This is not an Islamic rule. If ISIS made up this rule then it is a made up rule.

On the other hand, in Islam, you can't kill someone who surrenders himself to you. See how they killed the police officer lying on the sidewalk? I don't think they are operating under Islamic rules.

We shouldn't need to figure out whether or not police officer was lying on the ground to do the math on that. Slaughtering a dozen cartoonists, on its face, should make that pretty friggin clear. It doesn't, but should.
