Come one now, we should be consistent

One of Rivers picks wasn't his fault. He thew a jump ball to Jackson who couldn't keep two hands on it and then it took a lucky bounce. It was basically a punt.
His kicker missed a 36 and 40 yard FG in a game they lost by 3 points.
His WR kicked a challenge flag costing the team 15 yards and precious time.
His defense couldn't get one last stop to get him the ball back.

Rivers played good enough to win the 2009 playoff game against the Jets. The Chargers didn't though.

While Rivers wouldn't be my first pick in a big game tomorrow, he would be up there. Probably ahead of at least 15 other starters, maybe a bit more. Tough guy too, doesn't usually get credit for that.

EDIT: To clarify I don't think Rivers played good in the Jets game, but he played good enough to win that game. There's a difference, and if we are judging he can't play in big games shouldn't we give him credit for playing good enough to win them? We give Sanchez that same credit against Pitt a game the Jets lost but many say Sanchez played good enough.

Proof that you don't understand football. You have said it many times, but you miss the big picture as usual.
Both Brady and Manning need the Moss, Welker, Saunders, Thomas, blah, blah, blah...... But when Brady doesn't have talent, he elevates them. When Nacho doesn't have talent we know what happens, when he does have it all, it's still 50%-50%, that's the difference.
Nacho holds development back, also, offenses back for many reasons physical and mental. He just doesn't have "IT". The factor!!!! Use your brain. The football part of the game that you never used, the one that played. It's obvious you never did..

I would want a balance of the 2 as well.

you may have watched the game but you clearly didn't understood what you watched. D played great but part of that was Rivers playing poorly. that decision on the INT to Leonhard was as bad as I have ever seen.

and if you could read you'd know I never said Mark was the reason we won, that we won w/ D first in all of those playoff games but Mark made plays and avoided the big mistake. Something Rivers did not do in that game.

also, outside of the Greene run(which was obviously big) we ran the ball pretty poorly the rest of the game so to act like the run game was carrying us was silly. The O didn't make the big mistakes, the QB made a few big plays and Greene and the run game made the biggest play.

He has won big games so obviously the answer to that is yes and I don't love him, I appreciate what he did. I appreciated having a QB we could win with b/c we haven't had many of those guys in my lifetime. For fans like you that prefer fantasy #s you have gotten what you deserve w/ these recent teams.

I am biased, we are all biased but I am much more objective than any of you guys. I see things realistically, you guys do not. Once again I have NEVER said he was great, never said he will be great, never said he was THE reason we won all those playoff games, etc... I have always seen him for what he is- a decent QB who you can win with.

all TOs are not good but all TOs are not bad. That's just not true and I guarantee I have spoken to more NFL players/execs/coaches than you have. No one wants to turn it over but each TO is different, some hurt more than others, some may be credited to a player and not his fault in any way but the anti-Sanchez crowd just wants to post TO #s as if al were Mark's fault, as if he played poorly and derailed his teams hopes when the facts are the opposite.

so throwing a jump ball against the best corner and best defensive player in the league at that time he shouldn't get any blame for that?

K missed 2 makeable kicks, lost by 3 but would Jets have played prevent if they weren't up 10 late? that final score is a little misleading.

His D held the Jets to 3 pts in the 1st half, he could only lead his O to 7. His other TO was up 7-3 and one of the worst INTs I have ever seen panicking in the EZ and throwing a ball up for grabs where only Jets could catch it. That play changed the game.

Rivers was AWFUL against us, the primary reason we won. he did not play anywhere near good enough to win.

does Brady play for Seattle or Denver? this is your biggest problem(among many), you can't read.

    Green Bay:
allowed average of 19.9 PPG, Sanchez led Philly to 20. even
    Tennessee:
allowed 25.1 PPG, Sanchez led Eagles to 36 pts. +11

allowed avg. of 24.3 PPG, Sanchez led Eagles to 27. +3
    Giants:

Does the "actual pts allowed removing O/STs pts" apply to both the numbers for the opposing defense and that of 2 QBs you are comparing?

for all games I removed all STs/D scores and for Mark I removed the game that team played against Philly and for Foles the games he played against those teams so I averaged them by 14(Dallas since Mark played them twice) or 15(all other teams).

Mark played 2 more games so w/ the 56.4 to 10 I guess that is a little unfair so on average it is:

    Sanchez: +6.3
    Foles: +1.4

any way you slice it they were better with Mark and that's not a bash on Foles as I like Foles.

Since it's fair to note that the Ryans injury hurt the defense, let's examine the state of the Eagle oline under Foles and Sanchez.

All pro guard Evan Mathis: Injured week 1, returned week 10 against Carolina (Sanchez's first start) .

Starting center Jason Kelce: injured in week 3. Returned week 9 at Texans (Sanchez's first game action).

Starting right tackle Lane Johnson (PFF all-pro, along with Peters): Missed first 4 games for PED suspension, all Foles starts. Should also be noted that Allen Barbre, Johnson's backup and fill-in starter, was lost for the year in the opener.

The 49ers game in week 4, not surprisingly their worst offensive game of the season, had all three (four if you count Barbre) out for the entirety of the game.

I will give Sanchez the fact that Todd Herreman, considered the weak link of the line (PFF ranked him 70 of 78 qualifying guards before injury) saw his final action of the year in the Texan game. But even as a below average starter it's still one Sanchez was without and Foles had.

I don't think Sanchez is THE reason the Eagles didn't make the playoffs, he's merely a part of it. And as the most important player of an offensive minded football team (that means more is expected of that unit, right?), he didn't do enough to get the team to the playoffs. As we agreed, he has to find a way to win those games. That's really it.

As for the Skins game, the game plan better be to throw on Washington. They may have been the worst secondary in the league this season. They had the highest QBR against, allowed 35 passing tds (most in NFL) and recorded just 7 interceptions (Jets only had 1 fewer, for some perspective)...so not throwing a pick until pass 50 really isn't all that impressive against that unit. Plus they entered the 4th quarter trailing by 10 points, so game flow had at least something to do with the attempt total.

of course he is a part of it, not a big part but a part. all of them had a hand in it the collapse.

All TO's are bad, period. Anytime you give up control of the ball you are giving the other team the opportunity to score and taking away from your own opportunity to score. Since scoring is the name of the game all turnovers are bad. If you can predict what turnovers will cost you during the game then you might be able to argue that all turnovers aren't bad, but you can't. And even if you look back on the game in hindsight and see what turnovers the other team converted in to points and what turnovers they did not convert in to points you still can not say what turnovers prevented you from scoring points and which turnovers didn't.

BTW junc, the first sign of someone suffering from narcissism is when they consistently state things like "I see things more objectively and you guys do not". And yes some interceptions aren't the QB's fault, but as anyone with an ounce of common sense and objectivity knows, for every turnover that isn't a QB's fault is balanced by plays where a bad decision was made that should have been a turnover but wasn't. If you are going to argue turnovers that weren't his fault then you also have to accept turnovers that should have been turnovers but were dropped. You can not argue one side of that equation without accepting the other side of the equation, at least not if your honest and at least somewhat objective.

It's not a bad INT. He gets blame for a bad throw, but it's not like he threw it straight to the defender. It was an incredible INT, not all his fault which is an excuse used to absolve QBs of blame.

His K missed a makable kick so the Jets were up 10 instead of 7. The final score is not a little misleading because again if the defense got a stop then SD gets the ball back. That's like saying the Jets/Pitt AFC champ game score is misleading since Pitt was playing prevent defense.

Rivers was not awful against us. Like I said he wasn't good, but he clearly played good enough to win if his team lost by 3 in a game where kicker missed 2 makable field goals. How is that not good enough to win? Again, classic Sanchez excuse, but if Rivers' D made a stop....

He threw the ball up for grabs against the best defender in football, it was a bad play. he was getting rushed dropping back, threw off his back foot up for grabs. Terrible decision, terrible throw. got a little unlucky w/ the bounce but bad decision, bad throw.

Pitt wasn't playing prevent, obviuously teams play different w/ big leads but they weren't playing prevent. we shut down SD all game then all of a sudden late in the game w/ a double digit lead they go right down the field.

He was AWFUL, the worst QB on the field that day. Cost his team a chance to win, his team which was one of most talented teams as well as the hottest team in football.

another thing is we got conservative up 10 in the 4th. if not then we are running our regular offense and not just handing it off every play.

If Rivers D made a stop? they held an opponent to 17 pts at HOME, their O average probably close to 30 PPG. I think 17 is a reasonable amount and the Jets first TD was set up by Rivers INT which set us up inside the red zone. The D was the least of their problems.

you give up b/c you can't keep up just like beastbitch. You just prefer to hurl insults rather than debate the topics at hand.

And what a unit it is. Assuming the unit is healthy, whoever is the starter in Philly next year will be extremely fortunate to play behind them.

    2. Philadelphia Eagles

Pass Blocking Ranking: 10th, Run Blocking Ranking: 1st, Penalties Ranking: 27th

Stud: In the conversation for best left tackle in the league right now, and if nothing else the run blocking of Jason Peters makes him the most fun to watch.

Dud: Credit to Todd Herremans for trying to gut it out, but the upshot was him being something of a liability in pass protection before going on Injured Reserve.

Breakdown: How did the line finish this highly with all the injuries they had? The replacements (Matt Tobin, Andrew Gardner and David Molk) all struggled so you can place their midseason renaissance down to getting their studs back. Peters and Lane Johnson were PFF All-Pro first teamers, Evan Mathis was on pace to be one, but missed some time, while Jason Kelce had the sixth-highest run blocking score of any center. A strong finish to the year for this unit.
