Via Jason Cole Source indicated if #Seahawks DC Dan Quinn gets HC job (#Jets strong chance), will try to hire Kyle Shanahan as OC, away from #Browns
Not that he's the best candidate but he seems like a mix of old school versus new school. Bringing his father's old school zone blocking schemes with innovation. Say what you want about him but he's a hungry young guy who came into the league at a very young age. Sometimes the younger coaches are much more willing to adapt to the league than the older coaches are.
I don't think HC is the only option or interest for some these guys with us. We probably have other coaching positions available.
Lol @ calling the joke that started glorified running back Ron Mexico at qb for 6 years, despite his <80 passer rating (2013 Kellen Clemens/Case Keenum numbers) over that time, a "real" franchise.
I disagree. Mike saw early what we all saw last year. RG3 is not what he was hyped to be and Mike saw it. He didnt want to play him because he wasnt the best qb. The FO pushed for him to play (big investment), but Mike knows football better than Snyder IMO
I think even if Woody likes a certain candidate he's not going to rush into anything. I see it as he's makin a list and checking it twice, you know. I think he knows this is probably the biggest decision and most important one he's had to make since owning this franchise.
Lol, we can only hope. Unless of course we get coal in our stockings! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It seems like this is the way to go. Defensive minded head coaches aren't always like Rex in that they can morph into knowledgeable offensive coaches which Rex couldn't do. We have to hope Casserly and Wolf are analyzing these guys on their ability to adapt and learn new football things.
Shanahan sounds a lot like Brian Schottenheimer. Incredibly complex playbook that requires a highly intelligent QB to operate (is this really Geno?). Gives quarterback a lot of flexibility in audibles, but play calls are so long they burn timeouts like butter to avoid delay of game penalties. Also is aspiring to become a HC so he may not be around long enough to allow offensive scheme to fully develop to fruition. Personally, I'd pass. I hope the Jets pursue someone like Trestman for OC job.
I liked the way he gave the Brown's FO the finger for trying to run the Offense from the Owner's Suite. That being said, I have to admit that if I owned an NFL franchise I'd be tweeting to the sidelines every 5 minutes!!!!
