Coaches win with players. Good players make good coaches. Any top coach will admit it is true. Some coaches are better than others just as some doctors are better than others but you win with players. Without Brady BB is a good coach. With Brady he is a winner. The talk show myth is that coaches are the difference makers. Sorry it's the players.
And that was 25 years ago... Sure that makes them butt buddies. Re bolded -- show how you support it. Most importantly, even if everything you say is true, how does it make Mehta not biased?
I don't disagree. It just pisses me off when media licks BB's shithole proclaiming him the best thing since the sliced bread.
Not saying he isn't ,I don't understand why people get so upset with this guy.I've listend to Manish Metha weekly appearnces on local radio stations and he never came across like a scumbag reporter he always sounded like a beat writer doing his job.I don't get upset over what he writes because most of it ends up being true,I'm not a fan of his or a hater if he writes something I read it with an unbiased outlook.I'm sure he has his reason for not liking Marrone that stem from somewhere....
The real problem is that the Daily News identifies Mehta as both a reporter and a columnist. The job of a reporter is to report the news; the job of a columnist is to tell the reader how he feels about that news. It's impossible to serve both masters so it's much easier to just consider him a columnist at all times and what he writes is strictly his own opinion.
Don't really care much for Kaye or La Greca but this was well done honestly.....Mehta is a terrible beat writer, it pains me that people continue to give his articles clicks when there are better Jets beat writers. Its like Jet fans enjoy the misery and pain and enjoy when someone like Mehta blows the flute that caters to your pain. Much of what the two guys said is what I have said in this. Marrone was smart to take the money and leave and potentially set himself up for a more stable job, how does that prove he's some sort of coward? Its a joke clowns like Florio continue to have Mehta on as the go to source for anything Jets related. Just continues to feed the guy's ego more.
Oh for christ sakes, no one person is responsible for a draft pick happening for a team. There are paid scouts and professionals who go and attend for instance Florida St games to see EJ Manuel in person and get to interviewed him. They don't just jump into the war room with zero knowledge of a player in round 1 and then go on and take a said player, especially a QB. Marrone is nothing more than just a fall guy for a bad pick. Same shit with Idzik here. Nobody gives a damn how he has treated the Buffalo media, that has zero to due with anything in-game. It seems like a lot of what is being said is because he was so distant with the Buffalo media where once he left, they just felt right to pile it on and unleash everything they possibly can. It just comes off as unprofessional to not care for a guy because he wasn't the best interview or was not giving juicy enough answers to the media. It is unprofessional to the business and unprofessional to the fans. Judging him for what he does on the field is fine, it is when a beat writer starts to say he's a terrible person to the media where it gets silly if not petty.
Totally agree. Marrone career is more than just the 2 years he spent in BUF. Michael Kay didn't really drill him on that though.
There are 100's of stories like this. If you were to ask me to pinpoint his problem...he is the typical journalist..perhaps 5 years from now, that will go down in a heap of fire and everyone will say "well Christ..the handwriting was on the wall with this guy but most ignored it" For the record, Im not going after the guy because Im a Marrone fan. While this Buffalo team with a shitty number 1 qb and a backup who is retiring after this past year was one of the most impressive Bills teams we have played in over a decade...I have no idea what Marrone will bring to the table. What I do know is that Mehta hides behind more anonymous quotes then all the other NY writers COMBINED. That spells trouble because the guy has NO reputation to even have that many sources. He isn't a writer...he is a troublemaker. What really cracks me up is that you have guys defending him here that went after the FIRE IDZIK guys because they were "starting trouble" while you have a writer who plays the roll of Ann Landers with a suit and tie. Hypocrisy at its finest. Mehta will be found at a later date to have issues...and I will leave it at that.
it was over a war w/ BP and BB. Parcells didn't tell BB he was "retiring" until BB came to him and said he wanted to go to NE. Then BP was going to be hovering over BB and BB didn't want that. I LOVE Bill Parcells, I appreciate what he did BUT- a)he never finished the job b)he cost us Peyton Manning and/or Bill Belichick/Tom Brady
It might be useful if you could learn a little about script. Posts that seemingly only quote and contain no original thought are annoying.
Craig Carton said Manish is very good freinds with A Buffalo reporter who hated Doug Marrone and never got along with him. That's where the hate is coming from
No I just think he is a reporter,I don't get upset with every little Jet related thing he says .What's the point?Your playing right into his hand he wants people to hate him.Because now instead of talking about the Jets we are talking about Manish Metha exactly what he wants.
I just listened to it. Mehta basically said he is just using info he got from people he spoke to in the Buff and Syracuse camps and what he got was negative. Kaye didn't make a good point when he said that when Marrone took the money it was a financial decision. And he was able to make $4 or $5 million for not coaching the Bills in 2015 (getting another job and making a double 2015 salary). The story I heard that was more pro Marrone is that he wanted a 2 year extension for him and his coaches with no raise for security reasons. And wanted to stay. And then they throughout the interview asked him why he was only going to the negative about Marrone and nothing positive. He didn't answer that (because he couldn't).
You'd think the person who gathered this info would have found better coaches to compare Marrone's #s against.
