Again, the point is not whether Marrone good, bad or mediocre. The point is Mehta is refusing to look at him objectively.
I live upstate...i don't hear Michael Kay....and I work ...so watching his show I don't do either.... Ok, so what's your excuse for others who've relayed similar opinions on Doug? You know, the non-preconceived notion ones....They're all just out to get him, right? Have you ever heard so many negative things before in your life about a potential hire? Honestly ....all just out to get Doug Marrone..... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Wait, the HC would be reporting to his boss? You're spot on with what happened, it's just odd the way it played out. BB could have mentioned he didn't want the job before the PC. I don't think hiring your friend of 20 years to 3 jobs then offering him a HC position, is dangling a carrot. BP did pretty well for BB. Bill maybe wanted to get out of the shadow of Parcells, but he didn't show the loyalty that he was given.
yes actually, I have! Mehta met Idzik's hiring with pretty much the same preconceived attitude So you're defending Mehta on principle, without even listening to what was said and not said. Not surprising at all LOL
I'm defending what he wrote as fact because it was verified by local media who actually covered the team.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm tempted to bring up the famous line from one of George Steinbrenner's limited partners about their being nothing as limited as being one of George Steinbrenner's limited partners, but that would be unfair. Much of the success Belichik had in NY would have been attributed to Parcells. It's completely understandable that he wanted to be HC of the Jets in the same way that Parcells had been HC of the Jets. How he chose to leave was amateurish and embarrassing for the franchise but obviously it worked well for Belichik.
I don't understand how anyone can defend Mehta. Even if you hate Marrone and agree with Mehta's opinion in this case, don't you remember what Mehta has done in the past? Prime example: throwing Sanchez under the bus in 2012 and 2013 before arguing the Jets should never have let him go the day after he got the starting job in Philly.
I could give a shit less about mehta motivation....I could argue that the motivation of people like Cimini and Schein was to help with Marrone's hire....reading about "He'd be perfect for the Jets". "Marrone now the favorite for the Jets." Was any of that true?! Or was it one sided ? Preconceived? Everyone who's ever watched him coach SU and the Bills the last 6 yrs found this to be hysterically funny..... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I don't like Mehta....look up my previous post on here....I was "trolling" him and Cimini at training camp in Cortland last summer.....so don't confuse this for my love of Mehta....just agree with what he wrote....and it's things that were discussed up her in Central and Western NY before ANY of these events of Marrone's departure happened....it's because it's Buffalo...and no one outside of it cares unless its former coach is interviewing for a job in New York. No, I won't do that....but, does Cimini cover the negative chatter ? Reporters have agendas.....except for maybe Dan Leberfeld and Dennis Waszak..... So if the argument here is to say the Mehta's coverage is all about the negative side of Marrone...then yes..I agree he's reporting is one sided.....as is Cimini's and even Costello's Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm not defending him; I have complete apathy towards him. I don't get how and why he gets many of you so worked up. He may still be as you say the most blatantly biased reporter against the Jets out there but listening to the podcast, I thought he presented reasonable defenses against the allegations that were being thrown his way.
Then we don't disagree. Both Mehta and Cimini are one sided. Cimini learned to cover it a bit better though.
I found his defenses to be elusive and poorly structured. Saying "I just quoted someone" is poor rebuttal to "why are you quoting only one side and ignoring another" For the record, Kay is guilty of the same tunnel vision re Jets, but only on occasion. Mehta comes across as an enemy within. His constant one sided attacks on my team is what gets me worked up.
The issue I have with Manish's story is that instead of reporting what's been said about Marrone, he's doing an editorial why the Jets should not hire Marrone. Mehta should keep his bias of it. It's not like Woody is going to listen to what he has to say. In fact, if Marrone does get hired by the Jets, Mehta has pretty much undermined his effectiveness as a beat reporter. Do you really think the Jets brass is going to want him in that reporters room or Marrone will answer of his questions.
I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but IMO BB's success lies primarily in enormous luck "discovering" Brady, inherited dominant defense and perpetually weak division.
So he basically grew up with him ,He still has strong ties to him regardless if he hasn't spoken to him recently .He was freinds with him for over 10 years
