Based on talent alone, Green-Beckham is not only one of the best wide receivers in the draft but one of the best players at any position. At 6-foot-6 and 225 pounds with impressive speed (he was a state champion in the 100-meter dash in high school), Green-Beckham is a physical freak who has been compared to Randy Moss and would easily be a first-round draft pick if there were no character questions. But there are significant character questions. Green-Beckham burst onto the scene at Missouri as a true freshman in 2012 and had an excellent season as a sophomore in 2013, but he got into trouble off the field so many times that Missouri coach Gary Pinkel finally kicked him off the team, leading him to transfer to Oklahoma. Perhaps most troubling to NFL teams is that one of Green-Beckham’s off-field incidents was an accusation that he pushed a woman down stairs in a domestic dispute. I think Kevin White is a better prospect. He had 109 catches this year. Dorial Geen-Beckham reminds me too much of Stephen Hill. I'll pass.
This guy is a fucking stud, but man he's got 7th round attitude all over him. This kid arguably has the most potential out of any receiver in the PAST 2 DRAFTS (2014 / 2015). That's IMO. He's also very raw, so make sure you got a good receivers coach.
DGB is nothing like Hill. DGB can flat out play WR, Hill was never a WR...it was a joke. I'd still pass on DGB, unless I got him at a real value with a late pick, but that's not going to happen. He's a immature moron, that isn't going to be successful, especially when he has plenty of "Cash and time" to mess up his life, as Bill Parcells use to say.
Plenty of headache WRs make it in this league. Not the most cerebral position. Been saying he's going to be the steal at WR in this draft and I hope we get him. I'd take the chance in the 2nd.
He's more than a "headache", check out his record, it isn't pretty. Not worth the risk in Rd 2, especially with all the needs this team. If we had a roster with more depth and less needs, I'd be Ok with DGB, in Rd 2.
It's a pretty crappy comparison. DGB can really really play. #1 WR out of high school If I remember correctly. I think he's a guy you take a chance on. I understand the character concerns, but this guy is a prime talent and we're a team really lacking talent. If you can get him in even the 3rd, I think you have to consider it. He's done some dumb things, but everyone is capable of turning it around. Take Dez for example.
Dez is a poor example because he continues to do dumb things like taking his helmet off on the field on what should've been a penalty. Luckily he's stayed away from trouble off the field. As much as people hate Francesca he's spot on with Dez. Teams should be scared to shell out big money for him because his personality scares you. I'm not sure about DGB but as people have pointed out if he's gotten at good value you have to pull the trigger in the second.
Baring we don't go Cooper in R1, and DGB is available in the 2nd, we simply HAVE to get him..no questions asked. He's the Prime Time WR1 that we have all been waiting for. I know you don't want to base a statement on 'ifs', but IF he keeps his head on straight, he's in the Julio/AJ mold of a prospect.
Agree with this. His upside outweighs his actions off the field. DGB is a true number one, and would be a great asset to whom ever the QB is.
Have to be careful there, remember Justin Blackmon? Josh Gordon (whose troubles are still on-going)? He's definitely one of the most talented receivers in the draft.
Josh Gordon had a phenomenal season a short time ago. With where he was drafted, he outperformed his draft position even with the suspensions. Blackmon also showed flashes as well but did himself in too quickly. He was also drafted 4th overall I believe. In the second round, you take the gamble on an elite talent in my opinion and hope that you can clean up the issues. To be honest, I trade a pick for Gordon if that's on the table. I'll take the chance on talent alone. Not everyone has to be a choir boy.
I agree about gambling on players especially because it's not like they're constantly fighting with players or disrupting the locker room in that sense. They make bad decisions off the field but if they don't they're top flight players. The right coach and players can sometimes straighten these players out quickly too.
Randy Moss had these same concerns before draft day,He had already been arrested for beating up some guy and got arrested again ,even spent 60 days in jail.He's a first balot hall of famer .Id take a shot on him I belive people are capable of change and this kid just has the talent to be great and he would be an upgrade over Percy Harvin who hasn't put up big numbers in years
There's no question we should take him in round two but I know we wont.I really hope we do though because I don't see him falling to round three but it is possible
Dez hasn't done anything to hurt his team. I think that's all You can really ask for. You can't completely change someone's personality. It just wouldn't work,
The thing is Gordon was once again suspended the last game of the season for violation of team rules. Also, when he returned from suspension earlier this season, he wasn't the same player as the guy we saw tear up the league last year. Josh Gordon needs serious help and it won't come from the Browns. Not to play the Devil's Advocate, but the same could happen to DBG. Blackmon, was one HELL of a talent, but the guy may NEVER see the field ever again. It's a hell of a gamble. 2nd round - I'd take DBG.
