Marrone is interviewing with the Falcons today. If we're lucky, they won't let him out of the building with a contract.

Calling someone a disaster etc is just an opionated slam. And how does he know that Idzik wouldn't consult with other people because he wanted all of the credit. Was he inside his head. Just cheap shots with no facts. I get it. You hated Idzik.

Idzik WAS a disaster. It's painfully obvious to see that you're one of those fans who can't ever admit that the team or team leader could do something wrong or be stupid.

Idzik was criticized around the league. Mehta wasn't alone. And he probably knew about the consulting because more than 1 person works inside the Jets front office.

If the Jets are affiliated with a possible move (Marrone), you're for it. If the Jets get criticized, you defend it. Etc etc. You don't have the ability to accurately judge and it's obvious.

Mehta's were personal attacks not based on the job he did. And there were NFL people like the Seahawks GM who supported Idzik. Like him or not Mehta's bashing like with Marrone was over the line.

I was with you until the last sentence. This fan base doesn't have unreal expectations and won't be putting up billboards every season but you gotta show you know what you are doing in a rebuild... i.e. there's got to be something good about your rebuild. Idzik just tore the team down and there was not much as Jet fans we could point to and feel good about his plan. Most GMs can at least fill that small criteria.

Idzik also ran into the buzz saw of Rex Ryan who fans were TOO patient with here. So although it was his second year he was tied, fairly or unfairly to a coach in his 6th year who had plenty of second chances.

Fans won't be expecting instant results, playoffs, etc from the new regime. They would expect some progress though, both in play and in the standings... and considering right now there isn't a very high bar set to achieve that- the new regime would be in a good place

If the Jets get off to 2-6 next year there will be billboards. They'll just have a different target than they had last time.

Nope. And I have no faith that it'll be a good coach.

Dude. Idzik and Schneider are best friends. Of course he's gonna support his buddy. Everyone else with a pulse thought Idzik should have been fired the second he didn't do anything about the CB position and thought Geno Smith was the future.

Seems to me that you get mad at Mehta because he tells you what you dont want to hear.

Problem with those years is most of the wins were due to the schedule. 2012's only impressive wins to me were opening day and against a rookie Andrew Luck and 2013's home wins over the Saints and Patriots. The rest of the games, including the losses, were dreadful.

Considering that the last billboard got EXACTLY what its owners/sponsors wanted, this will undoubtedly happen again.

Good post. They could have been 4-12 in 2012, or 2013... might've saved us a couple years and got this rebuild of staff and overhaul of players off a little quicker. That's why it made sense to axe Rex after the 2012 disaster

stop it, bad teams don't beat anyone like we did this year.

rookie Andrew Luck wasn't an impressive win? they did make the playoffs

SL was tough especially at home, Miami wasn't a bad team.

he kept a bad team in contention, a team that lost their best players on O and D early and had no talent on O to throw to.

I said Andrew Luck game WAS an impressive win. Just hard for me to be too happy going 14-18 those 2 seasons and giving Rex credit as if that is good.

we shouldn't have been happy b/c the ultimate goal is to get to the playoffs and have a chance at a SB but w/ the healthy talent on those teams it was a miracle we were in the race in Dec of both seasons. this year it finally caught up w/ him but '12 and '13 he did an amazing job though it is hard to see w/ no playoff apps.

He's right though, we have some of the most impatient fans in the world. Would not put it past them to make another billboard swearing to get rid of the GM and HC.

Though if Geno is the starting QB while Winston learns on the run, Geno will be on a boo/no reaction response play by play and if things get sour, Winston chants will erupt by game 1 unless that's a road game. That might be Marrone or whoever's scapegoat before the blame and attention shifts to them.
