You'd rather have a HC that was an epic failure in his one season coaching in the NFL than a HC that had a pathetic franchise headed in the right direction and has proven to be at least a decent HC? Makes a ton of sense.
Dude then fact that you took any seriousness to that post is just amazing. What is Holtz now 300 years old? Lol Wow.
The fact they just confirmed they will meet with Reich on Wednesday leads me to believe they will be doing their due diligence on this. I don't believe the Marrone is a done deal just doing this to avoid tampering BS.
That's a fair point but I don't think it applies here. For one, Woody did the right thing by moving with SPEED. Hired his consultants before the finale game and then fired Rex and the accountant by 8AM Monday. We were first out there on black Monday. So why not line up only GM candidates? Who was moving as quickly as us? No one I saw. And I can understand if there was a red-hot coaching candidate this year. But there isn't. If this were Harbaugh, I think you're 100% right. But all this rushing for Marrone? He's not worth turning off potential GMs who don't wAnt a coach forced on them, much less jeopardizing the power dynamic with the ones who would take the job. It's all about running a franchise in the pattern of successful NFL teams. And that GM/coach relationship is critical. Especially with a coach like Marone who wants a say in what content is put on the team website. No matter who gets hired, the coach will always be "Woody's guy." That's not good for resolving the dozens of conflicts that will take place in a season. I just wish we were methodical and operating how the teams that actually win do it.
Ian Rapoport @RapSheet Hearing it’s unlikely #Saints exec Ryan Pace accepts #Jets GM interview. More likely: He gets promoted as Mickey Loomis does more #Pelicans
RT @AlbertBreer: Per source, Kansas City's Chris Ballard has turned down the Jets' interview request.
The question is, are these guys interviewing with other teams or just staying put? Its no indictment on the Jets if these guys want to just be the heir apparents on their current teams. If they turned down the Jets and then interviewed with Chicago/Atl then it would be a serious indictment on the Jets.
fack. unlike DeCosta, Paton, and Pace, who will stay with their current teams, Ballard has agreed to interviewing with Chicago. I'm guessing Chicago is where he wants to go. But why turn down the Jets interview before even interviewing with Chicago? something stinks about our search process.. the best candidates already lost without an interview. we should be contacting Gamble at this point. He may know shit about managing a cap, but he knows talent. Could hire a cap guy to help him with the rest. Finding talent is the key.
yep he spent very long time working with Chicago. but he hasn't even interviewed yet. He is essentially saying i'll GM Chicago, or stay with the Chiefs. He's not even considering the Jets job, which has to make you wonder why?
These guys already have high paying, cushy jobs in the field. If I were in there situation I'd have to ask myself if I wanted to uproot my family, take my kids out of school and move away from my close friends for a job that might go poof the second a bunch of impatient fans that think they know everything get upset. But that's just me.
