Ummm... I may be reading your post the wrong way, but... If you are defending Marrone. Not everyone is saying those things. Simply put, the guy hasn't accomplished shit. Period. He is not offensive minded, he is offensive line minded. He isn't a well liked person, his record sucks, he bails on anything before he has a chance to say he turned a team into a winner. Is it possible, sure? Did he do it? No. So nobody can use that argument to defend the guy because nobody knows with this thin skinned Nancy. Oh.. He loves Nate Hackett as his OC. That is extremely poor judgement by anybody, I'm not ok with watching another Hackett offense with the NYJ. Screw that noise.
seems like the jets aren't nearly as smitten as their made out to be, or else they wouldn't be interviewing more candidates, but the fact that this has generated such a tizzy is kind of hilarious. the line about benching a QB and attaining a winning record with a journeyman under center links to the idea that fans attraction to him as a head coach spurns from doing what rex didn't and not being rex in general. trouble is, not being rex or being the anti-rex isn't justification for hiring a guy, not by that merit alone anyway. it can work or maybe it won't it depends on the man not the genre. that said, while I'm not gonna completely dismiss him, marrone feels like a lukewarm candidate to me, like a guy who doesn't bring anything innovative to the table, a JAG coach of sorts. I look at bowles and quinn and I see motivators and innovators with defensive scheme, Kubiack could do wonders for this offense and especially Smith, and Marrone… uh, well whats special about him? what about him puts him over the top? what does he provide that the others don't? O-line help? well Kubiack's zone blocking scheme did better with a so-so line than whatever marrone did.
seems to me the reason he opted out is because he was told by someone he had a hc job waiting for him. just hope it's not here. i'll admit a few days back i was ok with it but with all the shit comin out of being a control freak douche , has me changin my mind ! fk this guy!! i had a friend who worked with mangina few yrs back and said he was the worst control freak. we don't need another. his welcome will be worn out quick! please move on from this guy.
Does anybody know of there's any backstory to Mehta's motivation for his hack job article? Other than the general he's a hack reason. I feel like there's something personal going on.
It's gotta be something personal. Criticizing an interviewee is one thing but hes taking it to a whole new level. Especially so early in the process. And popping off on twitter? He should be ashamed of himself. its unprofessional and childish They both went to Syracuse maybe marrone stuffed his ass in a locker or didn't invite him to his party or made him smell his farts or something
He went to Syracuse and says Marrone is a two-timer and a quitter. But it's how he does business. He did the same thing to Idzik.
He did not do the same thing to Idzik. He's been negative and very questionable with his "sources" for a long time but this stuff with marrone- who they are just interviewing at this point- goes far beyond anything he's ever done
The Idzik attack was personal just like this one. All kinds of accusations from trying to sabotage Rex to micromanaging the organization with no proof.
all which occurred a year and a half on the job not during his first interview. Those accusations pale in comparison to what he has done with marrone anyway
I just looked over some of the anti-Idzik tweets. Very nasty stuff. He claimed Idzik wouldn't consult with personnel people on his decisions so he would get all of the credit. And started naming replacements for him even before he was fired. And that's just the past week.
No. I am not defending Marrone nor do I want him as our head coach. Sure as hell don't want any part of Hackett. Thats besides the point. I clearly don't like his conservative approach to the game, but that doesn't justify all the BS people are spewing against him. In fact, with all his woes, he did better than most as a new HC for a bottom of the barrel team. . In his second year, after losing Petine and most of the DC staff, he made some damned good choices to beef up the D coaching staff, and he did much better than Rex record wise with arguably less offensive talent. He ain't great, but he is a far cry from Kotite like some fans and the shit media imply.
No argument on which is worse. Even before Idzik was fired Mehta called him "stubborn" and "a disaster." A lot more and name calling on a daily basis for a long time.
