He exercised the right given to him by the dummies in Bills FO that gave him that out in his contract. He would've been stupid not to, especially for a better opportunity and a chance to double his paycheck.

I hear you but I definitely like Jameis. Thing is I don't think, like many, that Geno is a lost cause. Far from it.
Some hard decisions for the next GM I imagine.

A report came out recently saying the new Owners gave in to his demands and were going to extend him and he still opted out.

Well I don't know what's what, I just thought that showed he was loyal to his assistants ?
Daily News quoted a GM saying he's the top coaching candidate out there with Rex being #2.
I'm not thrilled with the thought of him but I'm getting burned out with all this friggen stress over the past season.
Can I sue this team for PTSD?!!!

I don't think Geno is done, either. 2 years in a row he's played well down the stretch after all time league low stats and performances. But you've got to sign an Orton like experienced vet Qb. And basically give them the job. This is a make or break year for Geno. But you can't let his development keep down the team.

Yeah and that they were gonna give him a huge raise (8 figures).

Tough to say but this seems to be a leak from the Owners trying to get the story out if theres any truth to it.

I don't know. Maybe it's not true. Maybe their trying to build a tampering case. Maybe Marrone is a great coach.
I can't make sense of all these crazy reports.

    He's not terrible.

But many don't think it ever happened (the pay raise offer).

Most think the Bills are setting themselves up for a tampering case to the NFL and leaking this "news" would help that.

I understand he wanted job security. All coaches (and people for that matter) want that. The thing is, you have to earn job security. You cant just demand it because you want it. We all want more money too. Should our employers just give it to us because we want it? Doug missed the playoffs both years so far. He did improve record wise, but still missed the playoffs. Any smart organization would wait until after year 3 to see if he could finally meet expectations. No one in their right mind would extend a coach before year 3 when they haven't already earned it in some way (such as a playoff berth).

Quitting because you didnt get your way before actually doing your job is childish. I'm so glad for Bills fans that the real Doug Marrone was flushed out and came to light before the situation could get worse. What a cry baby this guy is.

Fuck Doug Marrone, but after all this negativity Woody's not going to hire him. Woody's just putting out feelers to see how the fanbase would react..and they've spoken.

Marrone sucks. Woody's too insecure to go with this hire now that he's in danger of losing more profits to his dumb PSLs LOL

    Hey LS.
You seem to be aware of the Marrone criticisms. You've said that the Buffalo D was not his work and that his O, especially his area of expertise - the line - was not good. But you've also said you wanted to keep him. I don't get it. Why?

He earned 2 more years at the same money. If not he's in a pre- lame duck year. He basically was asking for a 4 year opportunity under a new ownership. Plus they are going to select a new football guru : who'd probably want his own coach.

I think Woody's decisions should be made for him by a panel of three psychiatrists.
I'm told such things can happen under state law.

This is actually where I agree with Bills fans and naysayers on here. It's one thing for Marrone to ask for an extension, whether selfishly, or selflessly for his coaches. The fact that they either called his bluff or decided no way, he didn't earn it...completely justifiable from an ownership standpoint. So where the theory that he did it for his coaches becomes BS is that he actually acted on it and quit. Unless his plan was to gain security for everyone at another gig and already had insider info that the Jets job or some other job was in the bag (still risky when nothing is signed on the dotted line), then I think this claim that he was looking out for his staff is bogus. So yeah, I kinda agree that it's a bad move on his part regardless and not the least bit selfless. It screams arrogance to me. But then again, so did Belichick's handling of the jets job. I am in no way comparing the two professionally, but just saying you don't have to be a saint to be a great coach. I do wish we had a guy who was easy to root for like Rex was... You know, just with better head coaching skills.
