Seems that we're going to pull the trigger on Marrone/ Maccagnan. I'm not sold this GM/HC Search landed us anything more than 2 potentially mediocre hires.

Rex to Marrone is a complete downgrade imo. We go from having an elite Defensive mind to what? Not a single thing I've seen or read about Marrone that qualified him as above average in anything. It wasn't going to be easy to find a replacement but whatever we need a HC and the list of candidates is unimpressive.
Marrone/Maccagnan should get a fair chance here. I'd say make the playoffs by 2016, they have the cap room and resources let's see what they're made of.

My biggest complaint is easily Nate Hackett. Should he really be forced on us? Is he the guy to groom Geno or any QB we bring in? I'm not impressed by the work he's done with Manuel that's for sure. They had a nice thing going with Nassib in college but this is the NFL not the weak ACC.
It's more likely Hackett gets fired after we make no progress on Offense Year 1 than him coming in and improving this offense right away.

For the record, I'm down with Kubiak, but I'd be ok with Marrone too.

Would rather have any of the guys Buffalo is interviewing before Marrone. Maybe 2 to 3 years from now we'll get it right.

It's statements like that (not hacking on you NY Jets...just using this as an example) that really piss me off. Talk about resignation. The things I've been reading by the MAJORITY of the folks who "think" we would sign this guy have been "resigned" to suck a few more years and then go coach shopping again. Really? You people are going to hang around here for this? Unbelievable........

We're fans of the team. Of course we're going to hang around regardless. What the hell else would you expect? Boycotting? Switching teams? All would be ridiculous fair-weather notions in my opinion. No one is holding a gun to anyone's head to stay fans. You can be pissed off with how they handle things but this isn't like I'm just going to go shopping at Macy's because JC Penney sucks.

Seriously. EVERYTHING that is reported needs to be questioned. These guys pump out more shit than a manure factory.

Ok...it was a simple question...and I take that answer as a resounding "yes." Was just asking....

If you're expecting greatness you're being unrealistic. But if you sign Marrone you are getting a good, experienced coach with decent head coaching experience. And a guy who was never fired from a HC job. As for going to the next level and being a playoff and even Super Bowl coach that remains to be seen. There is no slam dunk candidate including Mike Shanahan who is a SB coach but couldn't rebuild the Redskins.

What I'm expecting is this team to hire a competent management team in a new GM and HC. Absolutely everything I'm reading, using my own vast knowledge of football to "read between the lines" and my own deductive reasoning based upon Marrone's previous results tells me that this is not the case. He was a .500 coach at a College has been program in a has been conference. He was a sub .500 coach at a division rival with superior talent than we have now and he only has 2 year experience as an NFL head coach at that. His background is in offense yet his offenses have been less than pedestrian. He does not instill confidence that he will be able to garner forward progress in our football team.

The one thing that I am 100% certain of is he will NOT be able to handle our media. Call it what you will but that is a part of the gig no matter how much it sucks and/or shouldn't be the case it is what it is.

I love the NY Jets...I really do. I've been a fan for years and years and years and years. But, everyone has their breaking point. If this team and owner feels it's ok to fire a coach only to replace that coach with an inferior talent then I don't know what else to do from a fan's standpoint. I'm not about blindly following the "squirrel" hoping for a nut. Never have been. As misguided as Leon Hess was I always felt he was working towards the best interests of the team. I was hoping Woody would grow to do the same. But, a move like this, shows he neither has a clue nor really cares to.

Just calling it how I see it. Legacy kids are always the most overrated even tho I liked Elliot Wolf for GM consideration. Nate Hackett's offense has been a disaster with the Bills. Yeah they didn't have great QB play but it was better than ours and they had Sammy Watkins added to the mix last year. Marrone is supposed to be a great OL coach but his OL's have been brutal.
I'm going to "hang around here" because I'm a die hard Jets fan for life. Pissed we fired our best coach since Parcells for Marrone who I don't like but will be supportive of whoever our next HC is.

It's not so much about Marrone for me, it's who's calling the shots on Offense and Defense? Marrone doesn't have Defensive experience and won't be bringing Pettine or Schwartz with him. Hackett's small resume leaves alot to be desired if he comes with Marrone as our OC. 2 years as OC at Syracuse and 2 years of doing a terrible job with the Bills as OC shouldn't get him automatically brought wherever Marrone lands.

There's an article on ESPN.com on Marrone being against the Sammy Watkins trade up when the Bills gave up 2 1s and a 4. Something Idzik didn't do. Watkins was the wide receiver the Jets coveted and Rex loves (because of Clemson). Sometimes you have to use your brain and not overspend. I think I'll like this guy.

    It was a stupid trade.

Ah I read your post as similar to that guy whose avatar is the Geno smith bust photo who keeps threatening to leave jets fandom like people are gonna try to pull him back in. My mistake!

Eh...I'm done talking about it. Wasted cycles until the team pulls the trigger on someone...anyone...maybe I generate positive "cycles" into the ether and pray that Woody won't hire Marrone...may be a better use of my time. :p

CBS pre game reports that the Buff owner agreed to Marrone's demands but then Marrone quit anyway.
If true maybe somebody put the bug in his ear before he could sign on the dotted line.
    Somebody like Charlie maybe?

Oh hell no....I HAVE to hang around if only to make Woody's life a living hell! Besides...all my sports gear is in that shade of green...LOL...cost me a small fortune I don't have to replace. Blaahhhhhh....no...when I say or reference "leave" it's only about the message boards because I'll be too angry to type. But we'll see how things pan out. Again...no one has been hired yet. Here's to hoping!!!

    Agreed about the players.

However you must not be reading the articles if you think that's what's happening with Marrone.

One of the reasons Marrone opted out was because fans wanted him fired. Fans were calling WGR and venting on the air about how the Bills should Fire Marrone TWO WEEKS AGO and that bothered him.

If Bills fans wanted him fired 2 weeks ago, and that what was part of the thing that bothered Marrone, how could it possibly be sour grapes now??
