The point is the team won 9 games in spite of his inept offense and conservative playcalling...the Jets were almost unwatchable when they had the ball....and they were better than Marrone/Hacket offense...the defense was that good.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The point is to win games and the head coach is responsible for hiring a staff including a defensive coordinator. I think Marrone did a good job finding a defensive coordinator that helped the bills have a winning record for the first time in a decade. If Rex Ryan would have done the same here for the offense he may still be the head coach.
Meanwhile look at Cotchery making plays for Carolina tonight...I loved how hard he played for NYJs Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
We exaggerate how bad this team is....it's not on the Mount Rushmore of NFL franchises....but it's far from the worse ..As Colin Cowherd said "It's not an awful franchise. Just a wobbly one." Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Probably but the Quarterbacks are turnover prone no matter who is in so thats a problem as well. The question becomes does Marrone have his imprints on those terrible offenses over the last 2 years and if not why would he not take over the offense when he saw it struggling. I also still can't figure out why he took the one way ticket out of town once the playoff talk started heating up for next year, did the pressure of winning have anything to do with his departure?
Probably my favorite Jets receiver after Chrebet..just did his job and kept his mouth shut. Always made the big catch when you needed it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Remember that play against Cleveland when he pulled his groin while running his route and still made an unbelievable one hand stab to get a key first down....tough player Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well, he's a package deal. The point is this - if you want to have a winning record with Marrone & Hackett, you better have a top 5 defense. Have that, and all things are possible.
You mean "have that and 9-7 is possible...if patriots sit their starters week 17."...ha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hackett is Paul Hackett's son who is Marrone's designated OC. He would probably come here with him in spite of all the lack of success. The Hackett name in Jets lousy coaching history is a frightening reminder of the past. Yes to Marrone No to any Hackett.
Maroone lost to the Raiders to end there possible playoff chances, who loses to the Raiders? In a meaningful game
Cromartie with a huge pick ....nice seeing former Jets making plays tonight... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I wouldn't say he was the only reason. They started to look like a dominating D last year under Pettine, running Rex's scheme. This year the were even better running Schwartz's scheme and that's where DS earns some kudos. Making good better is really holding up your end and DS has certainly done that. I'm sure the Buffalo poster knows better than me but I think they also have a number of talented guys who are thinking of their contracts - M.Williams I think has to earn a very big check due next year, otherwise he could be cut, Hughes is going to be a UFA and the big tackle is playing for his next contract. Also they have some talent in their secondary and it's mostly very young, meaning they have probably drafted well. Plus they have done all this without the safety NO signed to a big deal and that Alonso kid has been out all year. I think they are going to be pretty good for a while. They have talented guys on O also. Marrone and Hackett did not make good use of what they had to work with on that side of the ball. In fact people say they were really good at playing to their opponents strengths rather than weaknesses. It was a twilight zone type thing. Real head scratcher.
