Easy story for all these football writers to fill space. Rex will not be a head coach in the NFL anytime soon unless a franchise loses it's mind. Bringing in Rex or for that matter Rob does nothing if you don't have the players. Coaches are not magicians, they win with players. How's that "triangle" nonsense, that Phil Jackson brought, doing for the Knicks?
He brought one DL, one LB and one DB from the Ravens when he came here, overpaying each of them a bit to seal the deal. So maybe he overpays Leger Douzable (Marques Douglas), David Harris (Bart Scott) and Dawan Landry (Jim Leonhard) wherever he lands. Then he has a teaching element for each of the 3 levels of his defense and somebody he trusts to be competent on the field in the role. Chicago would be the best landing spot for him. I know people think it would be Atlanta but in Chicago he's going to have Kyle Fuller as the young CB and probably a free agent to complement him. That's the best spot for him to attempt to recreate the 2009 magic again.
I wanted Rex gone but I like the guy a lot. I hope he lands a decent job and I can have a second NFL team root for besides Jets on Sundays.
He ain't signing with Buffalo. Well, at least I don't think so. Rex has interviews with Atlanta and San Fran. He ain't taking the Buffalo gig.
The Bills job didn't open up until today. If both SF, and ATL pass on him, you don't think he'll be interested in the Bills job? It wouldn't surprise me one bit. If that happens, you can't really hate the guy for it either. After all Woody fired him, He didn't opt out.
As long as he doesn't go to Oakland. There's nothing I'd like less than watching the Super Bowl in a few years with Ryan on one sideline and Pete Carroll on the other.
Having an interview doesn't mean having an offer. I have to imagine he's going to be asked some tough questions about his failures here in these interviews. He's going to need to have really good answers. I know rex lovers put it all on the GMs but I suspect people doing the hiring are more savy than that.
I still say I want to see a show Called "3 and out "starring: Rex(the funny one), Mangini(the straight man), and Herm(the preachy one). Put it on the Fox sports network.
I'm rooting for Rex to go to the Bills. Love to keep him in the AFC East and reverse those scores from this past season. And he can have his favorite Qb too. The dynamic duo reunited. Can't wait!
They did like him, however Atlanta had not hired a GM yet so he was not present during the first interview, when Rex came in for the second interview the GM was in place and he did not like Rex, so they did not give him the job.
Why does everyone keep saying that Atlanta has pcs on defense? They are a terrible defensive team, last in almost every category, they have maybe 2 good players on defense. They have drafted poorly on the defensive side of the ball, with his scheme they will fail as they don't have 2 elite cb, it will be like watching what we saw this year. Sorry if I'm coming across too aggressive 101, don't mean it to sound that way, but Atlanta needs a couple more players on the defensive side of the ball for Rex to have success there, if he gets the job
so stupid to let a really good HC go, you build around those guys. you don't start over for the sake of starting over but this is why we never win.
