Vinny 36-69 481 yards vs that Ravens defense which before the game had a chance to give up the least amount of yards in a 16 game season...Jets 524 yards and Ravens 142
2 tds and 3 picks...pick six and 2 punt return tds killed us we were winning 14-0 and had them reeling
Remember the game well. I guess the pick six made it feel like an extra 2 picks. LOL. We really blew that game. After being up 14-0, we really fucked up. I thought the biggest play of the game was that aforementioned pick six. He threw it right before the half with us going in for another touchdown. It was Chris McAllister with a 98 yard pick six. Brutal.
Yeah right before the half that hurt, and 2 punt return tds In the 2nd half killed us, after we outgained them by 400 yards
Ravens were class of the league, Weiss/Groh gameplan was smart attack their weakness...Ravens bitched after the game, 69 passes and 21 runs
Brilliant gameplan. We really should have beaten them. The collapse of that 2000 team is really one of the more underrated Jets collapses. That team was 6-1 and 9-4. A lot of close, exhilarating wins early in the season and a lot of brutal losses late.
Rex is the best HC we have had since WEEB. the only HC that had us as legit SB contenders multiple years and he got us closer to a SB than at any point since SB III. rex did a much better job here than BB w/o Brady. Give Rex Brady and he'd be Belichick. BB has done nothing w/o Brady. ranking post BP: 1. Rex 2. Herm 3. Mangini 4. Groh w/ all that said BP is the best coach we have had since Weeb but he left us too soon and cost us belichick, Brady/Manning and gave us Groh.
groh did an outstanding job with the draft but had to give up a great WR to so along w/ Belichick. was that worth it in the end? Remember, we were 8-8 in '99 mostly b/c of injuries, we had playoff talent in 2000 and at 9-4 should have won that division. Groh was an awful HC. don't let the record fool you, many of our wins were playing street football after getting down big and having to come back late in games.
I still think Mangini can be a great coach in this league BUT obviously we made the right move to go to Rex. If Mangini would stop trying to be Bill Belichick(that doesn't work w/o an LT or Brady) he could be great. Brilliant football mind.
the fact that Mangini has more votes than Herm tells us all we need to know about our fanbase and why we don't deserve to win.
