He has no balls because of that offense he runs. Have you watched a Bills game outside of the Jets games? The dude has no guts, extremely conservative playcaller, will hold to that conservative style even if it costs his team the game. Paul Hackett Re-Deux. He has no heart because he isn't a passionate guy, he isn't someone that strikes me as a loyal football guy. He has not accomplished shit in his career to warrant a HC position with this team. It would be an awful hire, I don't want anything to do with the guy. He is boring, strict, not a players coach at all, his x's and o's are not great, conservative, uninspiring, and It makes me want to puke. All your other stuff.. I don't care about. I don't care about his situation or what he did to the Bills, doesn't matter to me, I am only talking about his coaching style. What he brings to the table as a potential Jets HC.
Rex did get an extension last year so he's being paid for 2015. I tried finding Marrone's contract online to see how many years he has left but didn't locate it. Not sure but he probably wasn't trying to hold up the new Bills owners to get more money. So after two years he was looking for a little more security in terms of years on the contract. His thinking might have been: let me see if they are committed to me as their head coach. If not they might just want to bring in their own hire. So to his way of thinking they weren't willing to commit to him long term. Also they are rumored to be bringing back Polian to run football operations. And he might want his own head coach.
This will ultimately be a blessing for Bills fans. This would ultimately set us back even further than we already are now. We have endured enough, if your going to fire a guy, then you better bring in someone that will be an upgrade. DM is not the definition of that by any stretch of the imagination.
He wasn't the only one to make the decision on Manuel. No one person is solely responsible for a draft choice. I keep saying when people point the finger just at Idzik for some of the dud picks. The Bills have scouts and people who attend guys like EJ Manuel's combine, pro day and have seen tape.
Of course they weren't! He fragged a 1st round draft pick in a QB...hadn't made the playoffs...no 1st round draft pick...I wouldn't have extended him either. BTW...he had 2 years left on his contract. He needed to wait to complete 2015 before asking for his extension. Nothing he'd done had supported ANY owner giving him more years. Essentially, up until now, he has accomplished exactly zero of what he set to do in Buffalo and his deficiencies MIRROR those of Ryan...yet Ryan is the better overall coach in general. Exactly HOW is this an upgrade. Before you make any statement about my last sentence...ummm...I KNOW football. I know Ryan is a better coach in general and they BOTH have the same HC deficiencies. Soo......back to the drawing board.
Why is that? The list of candidates are uninspiring for sure.. Doesn't mean I'm not intrigued by any of them. I am not a Kubiak fan.. Although I would take him in a heartbeat over guys like Cable and Marrone. I would rather have someone with a good amount of success and experience already, or an unproven commodity that comes from a quality team and contributed to success with that team.
Look...one of the things we all liked about Rex is that he bled Jets green from day one. That kind of attitude got him six years even after the bloom of two straight AFC championships had worn off. So, who do we replace him with? Well, if Marrone did opt out because of the possibility of getting the Jets job ( ie: he wants to be here), then that's a big thing. Also, he's got a Jets' pedigree. Another big thing. Marrone has faults. Every coach does. But coming from a division team, he could be a good fit. It could even be a Parcells' redux. (And, btw, it wouldn't surprise me, if the Jets signed Marrone, that the Bills go out and sign Rex).
Freakin' BINGO right here baby!!!! There really is NO ONE that is a discernible UPGRADE to what we had. The ONLY upgrade is now in Michigan. That was the ONLY guy I would have wanted other than Ryan. Everyone else is an unknown or a retread. So yeah...I'm pretty pissed off. To be quite honest, I'm even MORE pissed off now that I know the numbers Harbaugh is making in Michigan!!!! If I'm Woody I would have thrown that $8mill at him.
Fuck, you can have Ryan. He's available. He'd love it there because the Bills have a great defense (which he would take credit for). Does Bill Polian love Rex. Didn't he blame everything on the Jets FO for not getting him one cover corner. So, you've got your new head coach.
The language being tossed around in these reports is ridiculous "Make a run at" "Infatuated with" When did doug Marrone become the next vince Lombardi? Jim schwartz's defense plus decent play from Kyle Orton is the reason they went 9-7. Tom cable went 8-8 with the Raiders. Not endorsing him either but If you ask me that is 10x more impressive.
With this turd fest of a list of coaches left I'd LOVE to have Ryan back. I've never heard Ryan blame anyone for not getting him his cover corner. In fact, Ryan could have really let the FO have it this year but didn't. He went out with class... Me thinks you are just pissed because Marrone is nothing more than a "less of a coach" clone of Ryan only on the offensive side of the ball. I think realization just hit a lot of folks that we aren't going to be upgrading SHIT this offseason as far as coaching goes. My only hold out for hope is that we still can get a decent GM. It's not hard to upgrade over a turd like Idzik.
Andy dalton is a weak-armed scrub. Sanu is an average at best talent and eifert is nothing special and hasn't even been on the field this year. Gresham is a plodding stiff with stone hands. Hue Jackson is a top tier OC in my opinion. Look at the career year Darren McFadden had under him.
Like with Rex, they play conservative because they have a dominating front 7 that can help bail them out. That is Buffalo's strength. Their red zone playcalling was ass because Buffalo still refuses to invest anything worth a damn on getting a TE that's legit or try and add size(Mike Williams who's a dog was the lone big WR). Much of these candidates haven't done a lot of shit to warrant a HC position with this team if we are being perfectly honest. What is boring about him as a coach? Just curious. Compared to Rex Ryan, most if not all coaches are boring. Bill Belichick shows little to no emotion on the sidelines, John Harbaugh shows little to no emotion on the sidelines. Why do you have to be a rah-rah coach to get results? He is a flawed X's and O's coach but a lot of coaches are when things don't go their way. I can understand people wanting to roll the dice on a less proven head coach for this reason. You ask me if I have seen any Bills games besides vs the Jets and then you tell me you don't care his situation or what happened in Buffalo.........
Am I on the only one who takes results seriously? The team has been pathetic for 4 straight years. How much more can you give Rex? You'd have to be insane to keep him. Marrone, Quinn, anyone else deserves a chance. Rex had his and failed miserably. Bottom line. If he goes on to win the Super Bowl with another team, that is fine, he wore out his welcome here in New York.
I thought it was time to let go of Rex but I'd rather have him back then Marrone. Only guy I'd take Marrone over is Tom Cable.
