nobody knows how any other candidate is going to turn so the question is meaningless. time will tell who is better.

of course this guys isn't the best option. not with cowler and saban not coaching in the nfl.

however, with the options available he is the best of the worst we are looking at. we need someone from the offense side to come in here and clean up the mess on that side of the ball. someone to prioritize offense and give us an identity there.

as for the attack on his past seasons resume, that is a dogsh!t argument. he played rex and twice destroyed that "defensive genius" on two road games. he had very limited talent on that side of the ball and still managed better than others would have.

we also need someone who has experience because NY isn't the place for 'on the job' training, not with our fan base, the media, and a crappy owner like we have.

It depends on why he left Buffalo what the full story is.But he seemed to have a good thing going over there id like to know the whole story of why he choose to leave?Did he not want to deal with a new owner or was it motivated by money only.....I mean money aside how would you feel if your coach just walked out the door after your first winning season in 10 years?

Good post. My head is spinning with all the conflicting reports about this guy. You like him one minute and hate him the next. I like your post because Woody is his own worst enemy and no matter who we hire getting Wolf and Casserly involved defeats the purpose if Furniture Polish Man over rules his advisors. I hope they are telling him DM is one of many candidates. TGG will all being thinking twice before this process plays out.

This really is a matter of what coaches are actually available...Sadly for us this is not the best class of coaching candidates in the last decade. Its no surprise whenever the Jets have a top 5 pick or need a new coach that franchise qb isn't there and that once in a lifetime coach isn't there either

There is no problem.. At least when Rex came here he provided very good defense while he was here. Marrone isn't known to do that, he will come here and we will suck, per usual.

You can oversee a team all day long but if that team is lacking on offense and defense because your not a very good coach, then what is the point? There is a lot of people who can oversee a team, I don't care about that, I want my team to be good on both sides of the ball.

There is nothing that suggests that Marrone is that guy. Nothing.

He would be an excellent coach for the Jets. Of course, it would shut down the speculation and the writers would have to go back to filing stories.

Pissing off Bills fans is enjoyable.....but you don't want Doug Marrone....I'm telling you....their offense was worse than the Jets...with more talent...thankfully for them Schwartz had that defense playing lights out ...his offensive playcalling was laughable...I'm just warning my fellow Jets fans...as I have all day...living in the Syracuse area....seeing more than a few Bills games...listened to more than a few Bills media people...Marrone would be an awful hire....I've never been more depressed about the prospect of a new coach than him....

Of course Marrone isn't the best option. He's still better than Sporano, Cable, and Ryan. Of those out there, I'd prefer Quinn or Jackson, personally. On the fence about whether I'd prefer Marrone to Kubiak or Smith.

Still, the Jets need to do this right and sign a knowledgeable, player personal type GM that can hire (or at least work with) the HC and CS.

Let's say there was a scenario where we would have kept Rex or traded him for Doug Maroone,Who would have acutally wanted this? It sounds ridiculous just thinking about it

Because Rex is a great DC. My response was not really in support of Marrone. It was more because all of your posts have the undertone that no one would be better than Rex. Like I said, I loved Rex, but the playoffs were way too long ago and he has not improved one bit in any facet of being a head coach. Marrone may or may not be capable of being a better head coach, even if he isn't as good an offensive mind as Rex is a defensive mind. The point is that it doesn't matter as long as you surround yourself with the right people. It's like being a president. You're only as good as your staff.

I am not ok with watching more Paul Hackett type offense's. I can't go back to that! ha

All of you Jets fans that hated the ground N pound philosophy, you will really hate this guys mentality then. Careful what you wish for, ya just might get it.

In all honesty this would be the worst fucking move. It most likely will happen though because Woody Johnson really doesn't have a clue.

Doug will probably be the next Jets head coach. He wouldn't resign if he didn't have have a plan and a landing spot. Shut down the speculation. There are no geniuses out there only coaches who know how to win when they have talent. He has shown that he will get the most out of his players. That is the definition of a top coach.

That is true to an extent.. If you surround yourself with the right people and you are still very set in your ways, it still wont work because ultimately you are the driver of this car. Marrone is not a good fit for this team, I promise you that this is a very steep downgrade from Rex.

I am a Rex supporter and I am sad that he is gone. I do wish he was still our coach, hand down.

I am moving past that though, I understand that is over and we are forced to live with whatever comes next. Good or Bad.

I'm not biased though. I see the writing on the wall, this guy is bad news, without a doubt in my mind.

I am ok with hiring a good coach, even a lesser coach, but not this fucking clown.
