I find it interesting that Mark's record used to be used as an argument for his supporters now his 4-4 record in Philly is being used as an argument against by his detractors. Conversely, his stats in PHI are now being used as an argument for by his supporters when not too long ago these same supporters used to want qualify his stats with the Jets since they were so terrible.
Sanchez was not the reason egals failed to make playoffs. He won't come here again but I expect him to compete for the starting job for the egals next summer. Chip ALWAYS wanted him. No way he gives up on him easily. Sent from my LG-LS720 using Tapatalk
May not have been the sole reason but he helped with that crushing any playoff chances INT against the Skins.
This is true. But the price wouldn't be a 1st or 2nd round pick now it might be just the 3rd round QB he doesn't like so much any more.
I'm fascinated by the idea that there are actually Jets fans out there who would be interested in another episode of The Sanchize. After over 70 career starts, I think it's pretty safe to say he's anywhere from below average to mediocre (depending on your personal bend). I have no issue with recognizing that your quarterback is mediocre and accepting him for who he is. But, why on earth would people desire a mediocre quarterback? It's one thing to deal with mediocrity. It's another thing entirely to STRIVE for it.
no way!! as philly's season went on, sanchez' true colors came out. pick city!! still has trouble reading defenses and throws into double sometimes triple coverage. same ol' mark!
I don't think the OP and some that support his proposal are "STRIV[ing] for [mediocrity]. I think the thought is to try to field the best team possible given what's available. I recall many Idzik apologists profess that he signed the best "available FA" WR, RB and QB this past off-season. If Sanchez tops the list of FA QBs this off-season; isn't that doing the same thing? It also sounds to me that those in favor of bringing him back want to do so as a stop-gap and not the Sanchize. My reading comprehension may be poor but that's what I gathered from what I read.
I see what you are saying, but I guess my issue is that we already know what Sanchez is. He's over 70 starts in. He is what he is. I'd much rather bring in a young, unproven qb who has a chance of developing into our long term solution. (This is why I've always been a proponent of teams in need of a quarterback drafting one in every draft until they find one)
The bold and bringing in Sanchez are not mutually exclusive. It's a shame that Sanchez can never discussed strictly from a football perspective.
Whenever I analyze the feasibility of a trade I ask myself if I would do it. I wouldn't in a million years give up a 3rd for Geno, not even a 4th, maybe a 5th depending on how deep the upcoming QB class is.
How many teams would give up a 2nd for Nick Foles right now? And yeah, if it was a 3rd round pick no way but if it was a player you picked with a 3rd orund pick who had no place on your team? Then maybe yeah. How ironic would it be if Chip Kelly had Mark Sanchez and Geno Smith competing next year?
