If you're gonna latch Gholston to Mangini then I will latch Dewayne Robertson to Herm. And Robertson cost us TWO firsts.
Do you honestly believe that we would have selected defensive players with seven straight first round picks (including two picks in the same draft) with an offensive minded head coach? Think it through.
No, he just made bad decisions; I don't think inexperienced played any role whatsoever. Just like Rex Ryan. But the fact is, with the talent he had, he did a lot with it, as much as any coach not named Rex Ryan. it's funny, people hate Rex Ryan for being a coordinator and hate Herm Edwards for NOT being a coordinator. Maybe people have a "hate" problem...
I don't know. But it really doesn't matter because the GM is ultimately responsible. If he has to go against his coach, he damn sure should because the GM should have the bigger vision...Think THAT through.
I never claimed Herm Edwards was a shrewd talent evaluator. The Mangini supporters are always saying that about Mangini. And how is Herm responsible for costing us our #1 WR?
Then maybe be consistent with your other arguments and pin the Gholston pick on the GM as he has final say. Like you have astutely pointed out many times.
I don't even know what that means: best of the worst... the Jets really aren't that bad of a franchise, are they? That said, maybe you mean the Jets HC ranking should be something like: 1. Weeb Ewbanks 2. everyone else... 3. Rich Kotite
He tendered Coles at a first rounder instead of the higher tender that would have given us a first and third rounder. The Redskins signed Coles giving us their first rounder. We then used their first rounder and our own first rounder to trade up for Robertson.
So, wait, the Head Coach is tendering offers? Blame him for being passive and playing not to lose; blame him for needing Dick Curl or whomever. But, really, you can't blame the Head coach for personnel blunders, can you? Or do you just blame Herm for every crappy thing that happened to the Jets while he was there and give him none of the credit for the good things. Cause that's what I'm reading.
I like to blame the front office instead of one individual. Thus Bradway and Herm share responsibility.
Oh no, Herm gets the credit and blame for everything that happened to the Jets on his watch. If I am being hard on him it is because he had a losing record which means that more bad things happened than good things during his tenure as head coach. Otherwise, he would have had a winning record.
I will agree with that. I view it as a group effort. No front office would ever make moves without receiving input from the main figures IMO. The value of a tender though, I think the GM determines that. Either way, we agree Herm sucked.
I would like to congratulate the other Jets fan that voted for Al Groh. Very few coaches have escaped the train wreck that is the Jets with a winning record. Whoever voted for Bellicheck on the other hand has a screw loose. Even though the man had two stints as head coach, he never actually coached the Jets in a game. The man was a quitter. A quitter never wins and a winner never quits.
