This is where I am going with this. People on here are not looking at this logically.

There is nothing better out there! Could all of you deal with going another season with Geno Smith at the helm? Or would you all rather ruin another rookie QB that we draft?

It's a simple move based solely on talent available. Mark Sanchez is the most talented available QB in free agency. He's a stop gap that knows the New York market and would have a fresh slate with all new coaches and a new GM.

"talent" being relative ....and I don't see the Jets ever bringing him back...

Yes, the new HC and GM are going to get a QB who crashed and burned here once already and who went 50/50 as a starter in Chip Kelly's system. Everyone knows the best way to start a new job and revitalize a franchise is by signing a QB that would be highly polarizing to the fan base. Do you even own a tent that doesn't have different colored stripes running down the sides?

Even if he is the best FA quarterback available (debateable), this is a terrible idea. He crashed and burned here once, why have him back.

He actually made some plays in Philly this year. He wasnt nearly as bad as he was in his last season with the Jets. But he turned the ball over more than Geno Smith lol. Let that sink in. Philly got more good out of Sanchez than we ever did, but he's still mistake prone. The last thing the Jets need right now is another QB who turns the ball over.

What kind of sense does it make to bring in the least bad QB out of a group of bad QBs? Just because he's not as bad as everyone else on the list?

The offensive system is changing again. Just because wore green doesn't mean he would fit in now.

    Leave the poor guy alone.

He is doing just fine where he is.

The media would tear him apart.

    mmmmmm, hot pockets.

Seriously though, it's just a bad idea. (1) No way Sanchez would come back here unless we way overpaid. (2) No way the Jets even consider it because of the media circus it would bring. (3) We've seen what he brings to the table and it's not much better than Geno. (4) He "may be" the best FA on the market, but that just demonstrates the weakness in the QB market and means that we can't rely upon free agency to fix our QB problem. (5) we should focus on trades, the draft, or sticking with Geno and bringing in a FA who can serve as a backup or decent stopgap.

Best of luck to Sanchez but he'll never be a Jet again. Sanchez should sign with Arizona/Redskins/Rams..shit maybe Bills now that Orton retired. Any team with QB uncertainty besides us.
I'm tired of people acting like he's miles ahead of Geno. Jets had a better O-line, WRs and Defense through Sanchez's first 2 years. No QB in the NFL should've had to play their rookie season with our 2013 offense... Crazy to think we went 8-8 with that team. Jeremy Kerley leading the team with 523 receiving yards and our next 3 best options were David Nelson, Kellen Winslow and Jeff Cumberland.
Methinks Geno's #'s next year will be similar if not better than Sanchez' year 3. Maybe our new OC/HC can bring the best out of him..or maybe we find a better option entirely but I don't see it in this FA class. Look forward to Geno/Vet/Mid-Late round Rookie unless the new GM has some major cojones and trades up for MM or Winston.

    YES.

Trade for Cousins. Sign Hoyer. Trade Geno for a conditional 7th in 2025.

    Cousins/Hoyer/Sanchez battle!

In the debate of whether or not Mark should come back to the Jets,
    • I'd like for Sanchez to resign.
    • If he doesn't, I refuse to be resigned to his return.
    • I definitely wouldn't re-sign him, though.

Do I want Sanchez back. Flip no. But it looks like he's improved as a Qb and I was impressed by his play with the Eagles.
