I don't think it's a bad thread because logically, Sanchez is one of the better FA Qb's out there this year. However that list is thin, and as Jets fans it's too hard to remove ourselves from how Sanchez went out. Think about the MNF game against Tennesee, Thanksgiving, at Philly, etc. He was awful.
Chip Kelly is considered an offense wizard, and they say he has a QB-proof offense where anyone can shine. And Sanchez still struggled. If Kelly can't fix Sanchez, our new coach won't be able to either. And from a media and PR standpoint it would be a disaster for the new HC. Locker or McCoy, someone like that can be our bridge QB for a year while we coach up a mid round QB who has good intangibles (or Simms if the new HC likes him enough.)
The cupboard is thin. What do you expect to get on the open market? These free agent QB's are available for a reason. Hill is only being brought in to be a backup or potential starter to hold the fort while we develop a mid round qb.
Geno is a young, cheaper version who can still be adjusted compared to Sanchez. Overall Sanchez looked the same in Philly, a high turnover QB. The positive he had was he wasn't single handedly losing them games like he did for us at his words. The negative to us, if he isn't losing you games might as well get a less turnover prone QB who has shown they don't lose games with lesser talent around them. So no. Unless he brings lesean McCoy and chip kelly with him.
Hasn't he suffered enough? Honestly if we offered him the job I don't know why on Earth he would take it? The media and the much of the fan base is waiting to tear him a new one the first time he makes a mistake. Anyone has got to know that the first chance we have to sign or draft a franchise QB will be taken eliminating any chance he has to start here. On top of that Geno is still here and Sanchez would have to worry about the quick hook even if he got the starting job in the first place. We should bring in a journeyman QB but Sanchez is benefiting from a change of scenery and the very good offense he plays in. While Sanchez is one of the better free agent QBs available we should let him be and pick one of the other bums.
Well if thats your way of thinking lets bring back TeBone and see what he can do. HAHAHAHAHAH MS here again ---> NO THANKS
If you put Geno in Chip Kelly's offense he does equally as well as Sanchez. No reason to even think about bringing Sanchez back. We need better than that. Also why would Sanchez ever do that. Come back to the lowest point of his career where he would know fans would destroy him first bad game he has.
Hard to speculate what the jets will do without a gm and a hc in place but we can all safely say that plan will not involve mark sanchez being the hero of 2015.
The real question you need to ask is what Proven traits you see in Sanchez as an NFL QB that makes you believe he's anything more than a stopgap fill-in or mediocre starter? Some people just ask the same question 30 different ways and expect to get a different answer. Bottom line is he's a turnover machine and all he proved in Philly is that even when he's got everything lined up perfectly around him, he can't even get his team into the playoffs.
