Final Call on John Idzik

What should the Jets do with John Idzik at the end of the season?

  1. Keep Idzik

    20.2%
  2. Fire Idzik

Right. Idzik had no problem cutting some of the guys who were not going to be helpful in rebuilding, but cutting players is the easy part.

Where he came up short was in the draft and the 2014 free agency. At the time of the 2014 free agency, I did support him - but I was wrong and didn't know better. Milliner and McDougle both had injury histories and it was absurd to bank on them plus Dimitri Patterson as a capable corps of CBs. We needed Cro back at least, and probably someone else as well.

I think it's pretty clear that Idzik overestimated his drafting ability, and had way too much faith and trust in his ability to find good players in the later rounds. This draft was loaded with wide receivers, and his failure in that regard pretty much validates what the anti-Idzik people had been saying about his personnel evaluation skills.

Strict is disciplined. Something this team dearly needed. You certainly never got it from the head coach. Or the previous GM. Idzik gets an Incomplete from me. Not an A+ or even a B. An Incomplete. If you want to give him an F that's your business.

OK but how long was it supposed to take to replenish that lack of depth in your opinion? My opinion is that the roster is in better shape now than it was then. It's obviously not a great roster ... we were 4-12. The next GM seems to have a much better starting point to work from though both roster and cap wise.

Please name the 20 picks he squandered. And in a period of just two years. I guess Pryor and Milliner are on your list then. Are you sure about that?

Idzik was put into a position to fail and so was Rex Ryan, every one in this orginization is set up to fail at one point or another. It was a lose lose situation for both of them. The gms trying to build for the future and Rex needed to win now,two diffrent agendas and motives how was that suppose to work? But at the end of the day Idzik could have done more to help Rex win this year thus saving himself in the process,he did neither and is firedand will never be a NFL gm again unless Shaq Evans,Dee Millner,Dexter Mcdougle ,CalvinPryor ,Jace Amaro and Geno Smith all make the pro bowl

If true then Idzik is a masochist because he's the one who got fired.

The only picks Idzik hit on were Sheldon Richardson and Jace Amaro. You got Shaq Evans and McDougle HOPING to be decent (who both went on IR). Other than that what other draft picks have shown the ability to play at the next level? Milliner can't stay healthy. Pryor didn't show much his first yr.

Geno Smith, Winters, Aboushi, William Campbell (on Bills PS), Tommy Bohanon, Jalen Saunders (New Orleans), Dakota Dozier, Jeremiah George (Jags), Brandon Dixon (Bucs), Emenkpali, Reilly, Enunwa. Name me one team that has all of their 2013 and 2014 draft picks on their active rosters. Right now the grade is Incomplete. You don't just draft impact players you also draft role players and ST guys. Every player drafted except Tajh Boyd (Rex's given choice) is on an NFL roster or PS or IR.

How many of those players are making a positive impact on the Jets? Bohanan, IK, Reilly and Aboushi w/ maybe 1 or 2 being an actual contributor. We have not done a good job. We missed on players that looked good in the film room that could have produced for us. How many of these players do you believe have some sort of potential?

I remember people on here making better mock drafts.

It's only two years, bro. How many superstars did the other teams draft during this period. Anyone better than Richardson the player Idzik got in the Revis trade. Are you really sure that Geno is a total bum. 3 players drafted in 2014 are on other NFL active rosters. But basically you have the infrastructure being set for a good solid team.

I can remember the Louisville slugger getting trucked into the end zone for a TD.

You know why those ST guys are on active rosters? Cause those late round picks bounce around the league because all they can do is ST , gotta be able to break into a position corp
With skill. If they're on ST and contributing to remotely anything positive they stay.
In training camp next year you can bet numerous castoffs and former late round picks will make it as special teamers and probably end up playing elsewhere in 2016.

3 players that were drafted and are not on this roster. You cant give a positive grade for the jets on that draft+ allot of people are not high on Geno the living turn over.

20 picks and 2 free agencies I expected more then 5 or 6 players contributing to the team, especially with money left on the cap. He hung himself though by letting the corner situation turn into a disaster and not do anything. Even if we signed a flowers or a drc or even cro it would have showed the world he was serious about putting the product he could on the field.

He did worse then trying, he did next to nothing when he had resources.

This is made worse if the stories leaking about Revis wanting to come back are true. He could have looked like a genius by trading Mevis picking the defensive rookie of the yr then re-signing Mevis even for one yr.

I gave then an Incomplete because it is incomplete. No grade yet because not enough time to fairly evaluate. I listed the players and there are 5 or 6 contributing now to the team. And that's not including injuries. But you don't want to hear this.

Yeah and mock drafts are before the actual draft when you don't know the selections or deals that transpire before you. It's a fantasy draft.

Oh yea cuz if they'd known all that then Dex McDougle, Jalen Saunders, and Shaq Evans would def have been on our lists too instead of other players that were written about. /fart

Easy to make a call after the draft. And after the season. You're a real expert.

Easy to make the call now when it's the same as it was before the season, yes.
