My #1 requirement for a head coach is the ability to appraise player talent AND develop that talent.
My #2 requirement for a head coach is to set the base game plan and make the in game strategic decisions and captain the team.
My #3 requirement is that he believes in being aggressive on the field on both sides of the ball.

I do not require him to be able to run a defense and to call specific plays on defense...that's the DC's job, give the running of the defense to the DC.
I do not require him to be able to run an offense and call specific plays...that's the OC's job, give the running of the offense to the OC.

Headcoach develops a strageic plan of what he wants to do in the game, the OC and DC develop the tactical plans to execute the strategic plan.
HC calls to speed up or slow down the tempo of the game, calls to be more aggressive or more conservative at given points, manages the clock.

I'm kind of surprised Jim Schwartz has not been mentioned. He's no worse than the people talked about thus far. It's a total crap shoot.

AYFKM --- Detroit got better (addition by subtraction) the minute they got rid of that douche.

I wouldn't mind Schwartz. I thought a lot of what happened in Detroit was on him, but now it's apparent that Stafford just isn't as good as everyone thought he was. Not my top choice, but we could do worse. See: Tom Cable.

Tom Cable? Fuck that. Jim Schwartz. Hell no.

Even the Jets can do better than them.

I always felt the Lions had playoff talent for most of his tenure, yet his overall record is 29 - 51.

I see the Jets requested to speak to Tom Cable for possible HC. There's no way I want any part of that guy.

I don't ignore posters. It detracts from the flow of threads, but I see what you're saying lol

I don't ignore posters either. I meant ignore as in not responding to ridiculous statements that detract from real substantive dialogue. Also I don't practice what I preach either, but I'm fed up by some posters who constantly post nonsense.

I liked Schwartz a lot in Detroit. He wouldn't be my first choice but he's far better than Tom Cable.

You mean like the posters that hate every move we make, even the ones the entire forum is on board with? Haha

I think the media is trolling us with the whole Tom Cable thing. Surely they can't be fucking serious. Hell, might as well interview Sparano too!

Remember how all of New England's coaches have done outside of there? I really don't want any part of that.
