I think Mike Smith could be a good option for us since it seems like we need a coach with experience. He's probably the best option for us

Well just in the last 10 or so posts it's blatantly obvious that whoever the Jets hire, slme people are going to love it and slme are going to despise it. Seemingly perfect fits are deemed awful by some and seemingly terrible choices are deemed interesting by others. Gonna be a fun spring!

Well he's not a miracle worker.. he's not going to turn Geno Smith into a pro bowler

and maybe you should watch SD before you take a shot at Reich. By citing Keenan Allen and their yardage ranking it's obvious you haven't

None of those 4 names inspires much confidence. Frank Reich is about the only one I'd have any interest in just because of his QB experience. He was a smart QB as a player and I'm sure he preaches much of the same as a QB coach.

However, I'm hoping the list of candidates gets expanded way past these 4.

That's their points ranking. They were 18th in yards.

BTW, the Chargers were in the thick of the playoff race going into the final quarter of the season. Then they scored 14 points against the Pats at home and lost. The next week they scored 10 points against the Broncos at home and lost. Then they won a shootout 38-35 on the road against the 49ers and had glimmers again. However they scored 7 points against the Chiefs on the road and lost, eliminating them from the playoffs.

That's the kind of run that gets an offensive coordinator fired.

I think they should at least interview Pat Shurmur, Eagles OC. he got a raw deal in Cleveland and that dumpster fire organization.

Developed McNabb in Philly, Developed Bradford in STL, learning experience in CLE, now learning from Chip Kelly and developing that great offense...

Out of the offensive guys mentioned Reich is most intriguing to me. Gase I don't trust considering you can't evaluate him with a QB like Manning that runs his own show. Kubiak doesn't strike me as an innovator on offense.

Except they won't fire him because he did a great job...

their december swoon was a combination of playing good teams and injuries. Rivers playing with a really messed up back & rib injuries, no allen, no mathews, no wood head, no pro bowl center - in fact they played 5 centers.

I didn't watch them sunday in KC but every time I watched them I came away impressed with their play calling and the pace of their offense. That comes directly from the coordinator.

That doesn't speak to how he'd be as a HC-overseeing all operations. He might still be a year or two away but he's smart, commands the room & more importantly very focused. He'll be a HC someday whether the Jets hire him this year or not.

Yeah I know, just throwing an offensive mind out there that can develop an offense. Another defensive coach in Dan Quinn.

Right, but you'd hire a guy to head coach who has no experience doing that and whose team just collapsed down the stretch because his side of the ball scored 143 points over the last 8 games of the season.

That's the simplistic and negative way to look at his candidacy, yes.

Who do you think they should hire? i just wanna know so I can bash him by vaguely looking at all the negatives..

Still think Quinn is the best option so far, even though he's a defense guy.

How has no one brought up yet all of the injuries that Reich had to deal with this year in SD? They didn't have Mathews for 10 games, they may as well have not had Woodhead for all 16, Rivers was playing with a bulging disc in his back the last 4 weeks (ahem Br4dw4y5ux) and they rotated through how many different O-line combos?

Go read up on McCoy and Rivers' opinions of the guy. They love him and he's already guaranteed the OC job there next year. I would take a shot on him here for sure, but I wouldn't be shocked if he doesn't even take the interview with us.

Not passing judgement or my opinion.

But gut feeling tells me it is going to be Dan Quinn and it will happen pretty quick.

But it can't happen pretty quick with him right? Since he will likely still be coaching for awhile..possibly into february..
