It was an obvious joke. Why don't you write some more paragraphs about how it's moronic to blame the cheerleaders. And these guys aren't just playing a game for a few months. That's an ignorant comment.
Then why are you responding if you think I can't read? "That's my point! Both represent New York. Both get booed by a lot of the same fans when they under-perform. One franchise has had an illustrious history of success. The other, not so much. How does your point make sense again?" You make my point for me. the Yankees have an illustrious history of success. The Jets, not so much. So, the booing clearly is a lot less for one of the teams and the confidence greater for that team, which may help them maintain that illustrious history of success. Again, it's called a "hostile work environment".
False. Just because one team has been good and one team has been bad, doesn't mean that one team was able to handle booing and one team wasn't able to handle it. It's just as logically plausible that the booing of the fans in the stands didn't have a notable effect on the relative success of either team . . . I mean, duh.
I don't think either opinion can be proved. And I'm ok with moving on to a topic that I can actually give a fuck about. You missed the point: you mentioned "the only constant" when, clearly, there were more constants than the one you mentioned. Then you digressed into some self-serving bullshit that really could easily have been skipped. I get it, you think Rex Ryan is the reason the Jets suck. Others, including his fans, believe there were many reasons besides Rex Ryan's coaching for the Jets failures.
How was it a joke? He went on to defend his supposedly non-serious post with: Was that a joke, too? Are all certifiably moronic things I post in the future justifiable as mere "jokes?" Why don't you stick to commenting on posts you actually bothered to read carefully? I wrote that football players get paid millions to play a game for 5-7 months a year. Does the football season last more than 5-7 months (August-December/Feb), or was it your post that was ignorant?
What did you expect them to say...We're glad he's gone? It would make the player look like a troublemaker to degrade a fired coach. One of Rex's many problems is that he befriended the players instead of coaching or disciplining them.
Ok, I mean the "only constant relevant to the discussion at hand" (i.e. I don't think it's a good policy to be firing fans for their relentless booing . . . LOL)? Or, in other words, in assessing the four commonly debated figure-heads of NFL teams (GM, Head Coach, OC, and DC), Rex was the only constant. Feel better? I only poked holes in your arguments and harmlessly mocked you for pretending that the fans were a noteworthy "constant" throughout our years of futility. I fail to see how that was "self-serving," but, as you say, I digress . . . False. I think he is a reason we have sucked for four years. Big difference.
Maybe not, but one seems a hell of a lot more plausible than the other. Particularly in light of the fact that we are talking about somewhat overlapping fan bases. But, nevermind, you were only "joking."
I don't disagree. But, we can't just ignore the last four years because we think Rex has swag. Rex dramatically improved the performance of a veteran-laden, win-now team. He did a really nice job in 2009 and 2010. But, the team regressed dramatically and ultimately collapsed under his leadership and he failed to turn us into a perennial contender. Instead, we turned into a perennial non-playoff team and Rex has an overall losing record to show for it.
Um, ok...I must admit to being blown away by the salience of your arguments and your incredible warmth and positivity.
I wasn't arguing that you were. I only pointed out that your comment (which I considered to be incomplete) was one that is commonly spewed by ardent Rex defenders on this message board.
Wow, I'm caring less and less about what you have to say, since you're really only talking to yourself and these "ardent Rex defenders" who aren't actually on this thread at this particular time.
Whatever I say, you claim it's moronic or whatever insult comes to mind. I'm hoping your computer has some sort of parental control configured so the adults can continue the conversation after you've gone to bed.
The silly things you write get highlighted as such. This is a message board and strong opinions tend to be expressed . . . sometimes rather bluntly, and, dare I say, rudely. I'm sorry that hurts your feelings. Really. I am.
