I know this is gonna get moved and that's fine but just like to point out some of the highlights from his interview on The Michael Kay show that I just listened to in the car on my home. When asked about the Revis comment he said he had called MR.Kraft and apologized and that his words were taken out of contexts He sounded pretty sad you could hear it in his voice that he had to fire Rex He said they would be looking for an offensive minded coach but left open the possibilty for anything He wouldn't get into details about Idziks mistakes He said the guys who fly banners and make billboards don't reprsent 85% of the fanbase and most Jets fans aren't like that He said he belives Rex will be a coach again He also said he belives it was a mistake to hire Idzik and force Rex on him They asked him about Hardbaugh and he wouldn't comment on reports saying we contacted his people
I watched the press conference and his words weren't taken out of context about Revis. He said he would love for him to come back - I don't know how out of context that could be. Sure, he wasn't saying it as a recruitment method, but you can't say that nonetheless.
Very true but that very small percent got a lot of news and support from many Jet fans and the media.
The media didn't support that small percentage... the media created and encouraged that small percentage.
As you said, what he means is he wasn't saying it as a way to recruit Revis. The tampering rules are so stupid anyway, it just slipped out during an interview, I'm sure there'll be no repercussions.
Doesn't encourage mean support? That small percentage got an awful of help from the media and it got it message across. Even Begnino bought this point up.
http://web.yesnetwork.com/media/video.jsp?content_id=37089785 Here's the video. I have to admit, Woody sounded pretty sincere about some of the mistakes that were made.
I was ok with the Woody chat today- He was pretty forthcoming. Seemed reasonably knowledgable. Even let the press conference go on longer. I sensed one issue however- he seemed a little too switched on to what reporters wrote and what fans said. I think that's a little worrisome. Maybe he should have hidden that stuff from us. But overall considering he can't exactly come out and be a nasty SOB and rip everyone, he did well.
I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt here and say you are choosing the wrong words. What "market" are you referring to?
I don't need your benefit. The words speak for themselves. Woody Johnson can not afford to turn a blind eye to 15% of his fan base. He certainly can't afford to turn his back on double or triple that which, in my opinion, is a truer number of those who agreed with the airplane/billboard/towel campaign.
Not at all true. This is both a service business and a retail business. Every source of revenue is affected by customer satisfaction.
You think more than 85% of Jets fans are happy with PSL's or having the Giants play in our stadium? Look at what the fans thought then, not now. Football is not a soda company. Those same metrics don't apply. When you walk though the mall and see someone in a Jets hat it's not the same as seeing a person drink Dr. Pepper.
Really? Did they steal the hat? Or did someone pay for it? Did he buy a twenty dollar hat instead of a 200 dollar jersey because he was pissed off at the losing record? Did he go to as many games this year as last, or is he too pissed off? You are getting confused by thinking there is a difference between a fan and a customer.
