Perhaps it is. He also resigned because of his problems twice. Who knows.

You're going to get a guy with similar credentials to Idzik. A guy whose probably an Asst. GM or Director of Player Personnel. Someone with a good rep and many recommendations. Like Idzik. Idzik's demise was two fold: accepting the job in the first place with all of the conditions Woody put on the hire. And not being able to work with local press who killed him when he acted like a hardass. He was not a fun guy to be around. Rex and Tannenbaum were, it has little to do with competency on the job. The new GM has to have a personality. It has to be part of the job description.

The new GM has to be an experienced football guy who has to project strength and confidence; otherwise the media will rip him apart, like they did with Idzik, who clearly did not.
Of course, some good results wouldn't hurt.

A lot of names are going to be thrown around over the next week. Person to keep an eye on though is former 49ers GM Scot McCloughan. #nyj

NFL Network reporting Vikings Assistant GM George Paton is high on the list.
Was high on the list 2 years ago but couldn't persuade him.

Amazing resume! He was unbelievable in leading the Third Army through France after the Invasion of Normandy and he helped turn the tide in the Battle of the Bulge! He will turn these sad Jets around in no time!

Should get Marc Ross like you could've done two years ago except for the Rex Ryan fiasco.

He would be a GREAT hire. He only left/lost his job in Denver because Elway is a giant d-bag asshole and wanted full control. He has some amazing drafts in Denver and built the core there. Plus was always smart in FA and he had the balls to sign Manning. Detroit had a very good offseason this past year too, a good chance he had something to do with that.

Didn't he select Tim Tebow with a 1st round pick?

yeah but mcdaniels was the one with the hard on for him and pushed him for the selection. At least Xander had the sense of mind to trade down and not take Tebow earlier. Plus he took Pro-bowler Demaryius Thomas, Pro-bowler Zane Beadles, Eric Decker.. in that draft around the Tebow pick.

the next year he took Von Miller, Rahim Moore, Julius Thomas... He was a good GM

He would be an outstanding hire....he knows talent. Elway is a douch with a pee brain and a massive ego. He will be in cap hell in no time.

Nick Caserio, Patriots director of player personnel is my pick.

He played football, coached football and knows football from the best.
