Maybe it's time to stop the coddling then. The GM that picked him is gone, the coach that played him is gone as well - and he's a major reason why they're both un-employed today. Geno needs to hear the truth. Woody could say it's time for Geno to step up and show that yesterday's performance, while encouraging, doesn't mean the scholarship continues. Improvement has to be more than one standout performance per season...
50 years of futility is more than enough. I may be dumb, but I'm not stupid. LOL If Woody is so stupid as to hire a HC before he hires a GM, or even stupid enough to not allow the GM to completely make the decision on his own, he won't get a quality GM candidate, and there is no hope for this franchise as long as Woody owns it. At my age, it's just not worth the stress and hassle any more. The Packers were the first team I rooted for and are my 2nd favorite team currently. They have a HOF QB and a ton of talent. It will be an easy switch. I won't even have to adjust to radically different uniform colors. Mark my words. If Woody fucks this up, I'm done with the Jets.
Even if we scored a TD on that pass, you still give Rodgers the ball back with enough time to score so its a wash. Running down the clock and getting 3 is a win.
haah my point is just that...you've endured ALL the shit to date, surely hiring a coach before GM isn't going to be the final nail. You've been threw far worse already
Give me a break. You'd complain over anything we did there. We run and kick 3, then you would have complained that we didn't go for the TD. We go for the TD and you complain that we should have run the ball.
Aaron Rodgers did NOTHING up to that point. We score a TD instead of the INT we have major momentum. They aren't going the length of the field. Playing pussyball like you guys suggest wins you nothing. Besides you don't beat Rodgers by kicking FG's.
not true. Obviously theres no way to prove it...and it doesn't matter now but I was saying out loud to myself like I often do during Jet games...." run the ball run the ball".....Because of the situation and who we were playing. If we were playing Miami or Jax or lots of other teams without a stud QB, then I can see your argument. Against that offense, we weren't putting the game away in the first half. period. so the best thing to to is PROTECT the ball, kick 3 IF you don't get 6 and go from there,
you wanna bank on Rodgers not doing anything for a whole game that's your perogitive.......but that mind frame is not one that I can support
This is the obvious point. We're already past the 2 minute warning till the half. The Jets have a 1st down at the GB 27 and total control of what happens before the half. Even if they hit that TD pass they're still giving Rodgers nearly 2 minutes to finally get the GB offense on track and score a TD. Just play it safe and eat the clock and kick a FG if you have too. 1st and 10 at the 27 gives you a reasonable shot at a TD just playing that drive like any other. Watching that sequence unfold was like watching a nightmare out of 2013 resurface and envelop the Jets. 24-9 at the half or 21-16 at the half. That's a huge difference on the road in Green Bay. That's the difference between winning and losing.
I'm curious. Exactly what were the terms of the dismissal? Were Ryan and his entire staff all fired or just Rex?
He had 6 straight bad QTRs. He did not look good at all until the INT. But you said it right, banking on him doing nothing the whole game is not the right thought process... WHICH IS WHY YOU GO FOR THE KILL AND GO FOR A TD NOT A FG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get it yet?
1st and 10 at the 27 at the two minute warning, moving the ball at will, on the ground and thru the air. Everything was working for us. There's no reason not to throw to try for a TD. If he throws incomplete big deal. The one thing that hurts us is an INT. The only reason he threw an INT is because the missed block by Winters. It was execution, not play calling that killed us. If we score a TD, we have ALL the momentum, no way GB marches down the field like they did.
Yes, but you don't have to go for all the marbles at the 2 minute mark. The only thing the Jets had firm control of at that point was the clock and the move they made, succeed or fail, took away that control.
Well. The more messianic people got their wish. It puts us back at square one. Casserly and Wolf are no guarantee though. It will be interesting to see how the new GM takes stock of the organization. Bradway may finally run out of lives.
