Did you not see the schedule we went up against? Did you not realize our o-line regressed, inefficient weapons at the wr and corner position. I knew Ryan was doomed the minute the draft ended. Can't play chess when your rooks, bishops and knights move like pawns.

He did not, thanks to Idzik. The team had no business winning 8 games last year either, but Rex found a way. Think about it, he had the worst starting QB in the NFL and the worst GM who decided its better to hoard that capspace instead of trying to be a competitive team. Oh and that same GM likes to cut lots of draft picks.

To me these are excuses. All teams in the NFL had multiple injuries and had to go with backups at key positions esp in the secondary. The thing is: the other coaches did a lot better job. He had great talent on defense, many first round picks and the team did not make adjustments needed when guys were injured. Plus you can coach a defense without one cover corner. Most teams don't have a Revis! You can't coach without one. Then you're not a good coach.

What do you mean no business winning 8 games. You are what your record is according to Parcells. I thought the Jets were better than 4-12 this season. Maybe if there was game management and fewer key penalties they would have won 8 which is where I thought their talent level was. Most prognosticators plus fans on this board predicted about an 8-8 before the season. This cover corner excuse for not winning is horseshit.

Talent was there? Come on. Geno Smith is your starting QB. Idzik neglected secondary. In order for Rex's scheme to be successful, you need some good secondary. But good John Idzik was busy holding onto capspace to make Rex a lame duck coach. Idzik's plan backfired, because he's gone.

Idzik is gone. But if Rex is such a great coach then why the poor records under two GMs. He had plenty of talent to win more than 4 games that is.

best time ever as a Jets fan was beating the Patriots in the playoffs and the "Can't wait" interview (best not to think too much about the following game though :()

will be interesting to see what Rex does next, hopefully goes to an NFC team.

He was fine under Tanny. And if you really think http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/nyj/2012.htm these guys were talented, well then I'm not going to convince you otherwise.

Gonna miss Rex Ryan, it's a shame he didn't become the coach I thought he would become. At the end of the day, he didn't give 2 shits about the offense. In a league where you need to score points.

Because obviously the 2012 team wasn't very talented.... It happens where you fire a GM, and then you bring in an absolute worse GM, and that was the case for the Jets unfortunately.

you need to look at the performance relative to the talent available - no-one could have expected this team to do much given the failure to address the QB position or the DB position heading into the season. Both the Bears and Atlanta were expected to make the playoffs this year at the very least.

All I'm seeing is excuses for Rex. It's always the GMs fault when his teams under perform. We saw spurts of excellence out of this team in 2014. Most notably the last game. Why didn't he get this kind of play out of team earlier. And when injuries happened esp to the secondary why weren't these guys coached up. What did we see: predictable schemes that smarter coaches on other teams could figure out easily. Players missing assigments and big plays esp on 3rd downs. Look when a guy like Walls is beaten on a play it isn't by yards it's by inches or feet. When guys are 20 yards off of the play they either missed the assignment or the other team exploited holes in the defense. This is a coaching problem more than a talent problem.

Week 17, versus a team that got eliminated the week before isn't exactly a meaningful game for the other team.

Darren Walls isn't a quality starter either, he's another guy we signed off of our practice squad and then got meaningful playing time because Idzik didn't bring anyone in.

Just one more question about the great defensive mind, Rex Ryan. How many times as a Jets fan did you see a 3rd and long converted into a first down. You could almost always predict the outcome: First down. The D would stuff them or keep them honest on the first two downs. And then a guy is totally open down the field. Nobody even close to them. So he has to have Revis to run his defense. When you have a teacher in school who has no discipline everyone loves them. I thought these guys were adults. I guess not.

You mean a team without any quality secondary is going to give up 3rd and longs? How is that possible.

Walls is a reserve corner but can start. But he's good enough to cover a guy and be close to the play. Not 20 yards off the ball. That is in a good scheme. Plus when guys miss assignments whose fault is that. The player and the coaching staff. When guys are consistently out of position like the Jets. Again you can win without Revis. Maybe Rex couldn't but other coaches do.
