I don't think the NFL allows only 1 "consultant" in these spots. I just recall hearing that somewhere. i'll try to check that.
spot on. pronunciation is not necessary for NFLN would rather see RR on sny....duke it out with lucas

That was Woody Johnson's best press conference ever. Well done, Woody. I agreed with pretty much everything he said. Hope he can make the right moves to right the Jets ship moving forward.
I agree and I'm glad that we are seeing a positive review on the presser. SNY is generally giving him good grades. I thought Woody was very straightforward and admitted mistakes. Unless you are going with the knee-jerk reaction, "Everything the Jets do is bad", I think you have to admit that we saw a different, better Woody today.
That was a great PC. I still do not agree with the notion of running to settle for 3 though. That's pussy-ball. Play to win. A TD there basically ends the game. As it was, poor execution by Winters caused Geno to get hit as he was throwing the ball. Also, it was not a pick-6.
Yes, I thought that was the best of Woody that we have ever seen. The ONLY thing that makes me nervous is the possibility of hiring a HC before the GM. I just think that is a mistake. I understand it has worked out before (See Pete Carroll) but unless you are hiring a BIG TIME HC, its not the way to go. Which again gives me a sneaking suspicion that a big time HC might be in the shadows.
#24 belongs in a Jets jersey. We desperately need him back, and I'd be ecstatic if we could get him at 12 million over the three seasons or so.
all in all I agree....but I am not comfortable about the possible sequence of hiring that might unfold. but hey the jets are in a pickle and they have no choice. one good thing is that at least there are relatively few teams looking for a HC/GM this offseason. it doesn't appear to be a firesale.
I couldn't agree more. Woody seemed very forthright and honest about mistakes he made as well as decisions coaches made in game that had us all scratching our heads. I see this season as a positive and a turning point for the franchise. I think Woody now sees that he needs to fill this organization with the smartest FOOTBALL minds he can find. Something that has certainly been lacking in years past.
Lol pats aren't keeping him for 20 million and he would rather be a free agent than restructure. Plus the Pats will lose to the Steelers in Foxboro.
Woodrow likes rex a lot but he saw the lack of balance when it came down to managing all three facets of the game. He liked some of the things that JI did, brought a new process to the draft in their point system and evaluation process. He is looking for a GM that has personel experience, and he wants the next HC to be able to motivate, develope players, hold coaches accountable, and oversee and manage all three facets of the game.
Hiring the HC before the GM is ok IF the two are synergistic. Regardless of how they are hired, they have to be one voice one decision.

He also mentioned that the extreme fans( those who put up billboards) don't represent the more knowledgable fans who are not prone to mood swings.
Hiring somebody like Jon Gruden or Bill Cowher you'd want to let them have major input on who the GM was going to be. Both of them have the skills to build a roster and both of them have clashed with GM's in the past. You'd want either of them to approve of the GM you hired to minimize conflict and maximize synergy of effort. If you hired David Shaw as HC, well Shaw has been the equivalent of GM/personnel and HC at Stanford. With him you'd hire somebody to keep the finances straight, and again you'd want Shaw in on the hire to minimize noise down the road. One thing the last three or four years has taught us is that an organization that can be divided by the media WILL be divided by the media.
