Well that reaction was caused by the reports that he had alienated himself in the front office. We are not there, so we don't know if it's true. But those reports are what caused this reaction. Along with putting a below average O-Line on the field to protect a young very average QB, a young very average QB, and a DB corps that was probably going to be weak before injuries even played a part.
Edit ^^^ that gif is great hahaha Still think the Idzik firing was premature. ...moving on, lots of opportunities for the next FO.
Agree on Rex (not being able to get his team to compete), don't really agree on Idzik (should've gotten more time to see if his changes pan out). That said, I understand the move... Need new avi though.
I hate to see Rex go, he was a fantastic head coach defensively but he was stuck in the 70's in his offensive mindset. He was starting to grow out of that but with no QB that could shoulder a team there wasn't a choice but ground and pound. That said, if you're going to bring in a new GM you pretty much have to let the head coach go as well so the new GM can bring in who he wants. I think that's what cost the Jets so much 2 years ago in the GM hunt was that the new GM was having Ryan forced upon him. I wish they had retained Rex until a new GM was brought in and it made clear to Rex that his fate was at the discretion of the new GM but we can't have everything.
Been on record as saying idzic should stay. But its done so moving on, hopefully the new regime will find us the qb we have been missing
DOH!! .406 (or something like that) winning percentage the last 4 seasons, the team being unprepared more often than not, inability to make adjustments, to develop a QB, to develop an offense, a 1-6 record following Bye weeks no reason? You are clueless and deserve to follow a team with an 0-16 record every season if you are serious. If you are serious, do us a favor and follow Rex to whatever team he winds up with.
What he really wanted to is laugh at the PSL owners for buying those worthless things what a bunch of BS
While there's no doubt some truth to what you say (unfortunately), the fact that Woody made the move to fire both gives me some hope. The fact that he turned to the NFL leadership development council (Casserly) and to Ron Wolf for advice and leadership, gives me even more reason to hope. I don't have a lot of respect for Casserly's opinion, but I do for Ron Wolf. He was one of the best GMs of the last 20-30 years.
Did Idzik really alienate the front office. Or was he just trying to enact change and got big time resistance.
Never really understood this logic either. Same people who were trashing FO, were trashing Idzik for trying to change it. Weird.
It makes sense because they can't hire scouts from another team because they're under contract until May or June. Where would the new GM find the replacement scouts? Hire former NFL players who have never scouted before? Hire collegiate scouts? I wish they could bring in a new scouting team, but I'd be very surprised if it happens. I just don't see that change being made until next May/June.
no great surprises - things pretty much can only get better from here on out (or at least, not a whole lot worse). maybe one day we will get our 10 year franchise QB.
I think that may have been the problem, too many from the old regime still on board, probably causing trouble. Advice to the new GM...fire everyone.
This might be the most ridiculous post of the year and with two days left, it is not likely to be beaten. Let's run the Jets scouting department out of your basement. Good post! Congratulations!
