Scouts are usually sent packing by the new GM after the draft. Unfortunately, Bradway will play a vital role in our draft this off season.
I'm sorry that you don't like the truth. Name me a better candidate out there. And before you go naming OC's and DC's, you can't put value on years of head-coaching experience. Rex was one of the best defensive minds in the game and had already proven he can go places when given talent on the offensive side of the ball. Without a doubt the best course of action the Jets could have taken was to keep Rex and hire a general manager that understood how to build a roster. I understand why that wasn't possible, but that doesn't make it any less true.
I have to agree completely. There isn't one guy out there that is a better candidate. Not one. Coaching experience, playoff experience, and a great defensive mind. Maybe there is a better option out there, we all don't know, but to blame Rex for this teams failed years is entirely unfair. The problems on this team were much deeper than the head coach and Rex was a scapegoat. Rex didn't draft pointless players. Rex didn't leave millions in the bank and sign no one. Rex didn't allow us to go into this season with no talent whatsoever. Rex was given a piece of shit roster year after year and was told to make something out of dog shit, and he did just that.
Rex is the man, we haven't seen the last of that guy. Good luck to him. Idzik can piss up a rope, fuck that motherfucker. They better not hire Jim bleepin Mora.
I'm thinking that any scouts coming in will bring with them all their notes and research building up to the 2015 draft. I don't think assembling a scouting staff now will hamper us going forward.
Per Manish Mehta via twitter: "Idzik flamed out because A) he didn't have scouting connections to bring aboard strong team B) Too stubborn to admit personnel limitations".
That's now how it works. These scouts have scouted hundreds and hundreds of players, new scouts are not going to come in and evaluate these players. It's a year round process, do you really think new scouts will be able to evaluate players properly in four months? That's not realistic; our scouts will be gone after the draft.
We're obviously going to assemble a staff of current scouts. I'm not sure how it works like if a guy is hired to be Head of Scouting and its a promotion, if his current contract is voided?
Maybe that's why he didn't bring in a whole new scouting department...axe Bradway, and the old guard... you got to have connections/friends that will leave their old jobs and work for you in this business
After the draft the changes to scouting staff will happen, sometimes its a promotion or sometimes the GM has connections to certain scouts/personnel directors. The ones who actually do the dirty work as far as gathering info and writing reports on all the players pre-draft are low level regional scouts and it would be damn near impossible to replace them all so close to the draft.
Who needs scouts when you have : http://walterfootball.com/draft2015.php A scouting dept is a big fucking waste. ie... Gholston, Sanchez, Blair Thomas, Milliner, McDougle, King Ugly, Scotty McKnight, Lam Jones, Dave Cadigan, Ron Faurot, Kyle Brady, DRob, etc....... Just get an intern to scour all the mock drafts, make a list compiled of these rankings and go from there. Scouting depts work in MLB where they can develop talent in the minors. There are no minors for the NFL unless you count the CFL. This is the age of the Internet. Scouting can be done just by watching the SEC network and the Big 10 network on Directv every Saturday. Walter football has us taking Amari Cooper from Alabama, can you make a better selection based on scouting for this one?
It juts depends on who is GM. If we find someone with a lot of personnel experience who is confident in his own evaluations, Bradway's "suggestions" might not be used whatsoever.
Lol you really think mock drafts made my fans and ESPN "experts" hold any weight compared to NFL scouting teams that literally spend every waking day throughout the year independently evaluating player after player after player? You can't simply draft based on popular opinion. That would make a team worse off no matter how bad your scouting dept is.
