Alot of his INT's come from WR's running wrong routs. some come from bad decisions or bad throws but alot come from miss communication with wideouts... a lot of that offense are freshmen. I would rather a QB that cancome from behind and win then someone who dominates every game... because we know what happens when a QB has no adversity *cough manning superbowl cough* legion of boom
Bradford has a $13 million dollar salary next year. The rams said they will bring in a new QB next year but also want Bradford back. Bradford said he wants to come back because he likes the CS. Despite being injured all year Bradford did travel with the team and attend meetings. I guess the question is how much are they willing to pay him and pay the new QB. The available FA and draftable QBs are pretty slim which might be the reason the Rams want him back. I would imagine he would get more money as a FA. The Rams have a pretty good team and have to be attractive but they also play 6 games a year against Arizona, SE and SF defenses. Playing 6 games against those defenses every year will take a toll on any QB and his offense. It will be interesting to see how this develops. There will be a lot of teams after him. I don't know if there is any trigger dates that will force the Rams to make a decision by a certain date such as his contract becoming guaranteed if he is on the roster by a certain date. But your right Bradford might be an unrealistic dream for us.
Well said. But who knows. As I mentioned on another thread, the Rams might cut a deal for the early pick with us and secure Winston, if still on the board, with reasonable adjustments both ways. It might be very investing come March
He's going to get more than $13 million as a free agent? Who would give him more than $13 million? He's got talent but he's torn both of his ACLs and he's been injured more often than he's been healthy throughout his career. Honestly I bet the Rams will only retain him if they can restructure his contract to lower than contract. Otherwise I bet Bradford goes to free agency and gets much less than $13 million.
Who said he is going to get more than $13 million? That is crazy. The reason he may not be back with the Rams is his salary. Can they sign a new QB and restructure Bradford's contract low enough to afford him and the new QB but high enough to make Bradford happy. As I said above he can likely get more money as FA than what he Rams will offer him as the QB market is quite slim. But nowhere near the $13 million he is scheduled to make.
Truthfully, Winston compares to Vince Young. College football wise, they won and won big. It's the off-the-field stuff that will be bothering a lot of GMs, owners, and coaches.
Jameis Winston's playing style and collegiate offensive scheme are different from that of Vince Young so I don't see the comparisons. He's Big Ben pretty much.
Winston has great talents.. Reminds me of Carson Palmer as a comparison... He's just such a douch bag though
If we draft Winston, atleast he will be fun to play with in madden for a couple of seasons before the NY media rips him a new one.
@Jonathan_Vilma provided the best analysis of this situation. The off-the-field issues remind me of some of the things that Newton faced when he left for the draft. As long as the person is willing to show a different attitude (as has Newton), collegiate off-the-field issues are not fatal to a prospect's draft stock. As a player, Winston's skill set looks more like Rothlisberger, but like Palmer, he should probably sit for a year or, even better, stay at FSU for another year. Overall, though, making a single comparison is very tough, and it is even more difficult to divine what Winston will be in the NFL.
Laveranues Coles is another guy who had trouble at FSU and then was a model citizen in the NFL, really an upstanding guy. Anybody writing Winston off based solely on stupid things he did as an 18, 19, 20 year old is taking the short view. I'm more concerned about whether he's actually going to be a good NFL QB than about whether he's likely to shoplift after he signs a multi-million dollar contract.
Forgot about Coles' troubles, but that's another great example. I completely agree with your point. Wish that sports writers would agree with that point, too. The focus should be on Winston's potential as a player. Sent using Tapatalk
