It's Easier said then done And if no one in the top ten wants to trade up, we most definitely will not Trade down.
Pretty good news for the Winston fans: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...-that-ken-whisenhunt-ruston-webster-are-safe/ Makes it less likely they spend a top 2 pick on Winston if Mariota's gone given both will be on the hotseat and may want a Williams type of player who can step in right away and contribute. Winston gets past the Titans and barring a trade up, he's got a shot to be a Jet.
Who cares anymore? Seriously...same old shit different year with this team. bad enough to have a shitty season, win meaningless games at the end to miss out on the best draft picks. Take a fucking punter for all I care
If Winston is avl and somehow we can get the 2 firsts from the Browns I'll be jumping for joy.....hey a man can dream haha
Cooper is my main choice.... He, Harvin,Decker and Amaro would be the best receiving corps the Jets would have had in years. I'm not big on Mariota or Winston. I have never been high on Geno, but I think he as potential to be a good QB. This franchise can't keep drafting QBs and then hope he becomes a star. Stay with the guy you have and just put the pieces around him. I think that was Idzik's first mistake. Smith was good value pick, and the fans and media lauded him for it. But not giving him weapons, put him in position to fail.
I think Cooper is the guy if he is there. The problem is he might not be after today's win and the Raiders leaping us again in draft order. If we can't get the 2 QBs or Cooper, the solution may be to trade down. I don't see value anywhere else. Another front 7 player or CB will be a very tough sell for a new GM. OL is a possibility, but is the value there at #6?
I just can't see any teams taking RB that high any longer. They have gone from the most important position (possibly including the QB) to a spare part that is plugged in as needed. I doubt very much he goes anywhere in the first round especially considering a major injury. Last year, if I remember correctly, the first RB went off in like, the rd round I think.
The smartest move would be to draft the best OL on the board and it looks like it could be the number one OL in the whole draft. That isn't something to bitch about. If you want to be a winning team than you build a solid OL through the draft. Geno took a lot of heat this year but the O- Line didn't help him out too much in pass protection. We could go pass rusher here but I just think its a lot riskier and our D Line is so good its not a bigger need. I wouldn't be upset with cooper but OL is the smartest move we could make. Geno might be ok moving forward if we have a dominant run game and a o line that gives him a ton of time to throw. Changes everything.
It does seem far less likely, but of top 6 teams, only the Raiders seem to be a major threat to draft him and they also need major help at DL.
It would be a trade down most likely. If we bring in a HC and he really wants his own QB to mold into his system, I wouldn't be surprised if we traded down into the teens and got a QB. With that being said, unless we get Harbaugh (lol not happening) I dont want winston.
Gurley was hurt too often to ever be a top 10 pick IMO. He was always banged up while at UGA and the UGA fans I know where always waiting to see which games he'd miss. If the Jets want a RB, I'd look into drafting Duke Johnson or David Johnson from Northern Iowa in the middle rounds. My ideal scenario right now would be for the Jets to be able to trade with Cleveland for their 2 first round picks. Then the Jets could draft Clemmings or Collins and then a top WR like Parker.
Winston doesn't have to have any of those things happen to drop out of the top 10. Johnny Manziel dropped last year because people were concerned that all the hype didn't add up. Winston could have the same thing happen. Mariota could actually have the same thing happen as well. Who thought Blake Bortles was going to be the only QB taken in the top 10 last year at the end of the season? Who thought he was going to go in the top 10 at all until February rolled around and the combine loomed?
My top candidates for the 6th pick. Amari Cooper Ronnie Stanley (if he declares) Brandon Scherff Randy Gregory Vic Beasley
we should be one of the top 2-3 most active teams in free agency 2 months before the draft due to our cap space and cheap shit Idzik being gone, so MANY of our holes better be filled by draft time. I think we go OT or DE with the 1st pick as I believe Brick needs to be replaced. 9 years in now and getting burned left and right for sacks the last couple of years. We need at least 1 guard and a OT in the free agency/draft periods as Colon has to be replaced too. Mangold can still play well and I like Giacomini. Not sure about LG...
