I don't know about you but if I had the chance to draft an Adrian Peterson clone I would use a top ten pick on him. MGIII will be the first RB off the board (somewhere after pick 20). Once he is selected, I would try to get into position to take Gurley.
The "X factor" in answering that question is who is the HC? We have the money to get a great complementary WR for Decker (and Harvin if he's still here). Should we take a QB in round 2 again? I like Marcus Peters and Ifo Ekpre-Olomu (his injury makes him sketchy to me now, no more injured CB's please). I think it's possible we could see Petty or Prescott improve their standings and possibly go late 1st round as well.
Oh and Jets should trade down. We should be hoping there are two Top 5 worthy OTs during this process. One will go to DC, the other could be had and have teams like NY Giants, Atlanta, Chicago, maybe Cleveland go fight for them in trade up discussions. Knowing there might be a limited amount of worthwhile LTs to be had, teams will give us calls to secure one. Kevin White of WVU is a candidate in a trade back. Should be the 2nd WR taken in the draft.
I would offer our number one this year and a good D player to Atlanta for Matt Ryan. That would probably knock off all of that cap money Idzik's been sitting on. I don't think the Falcons will do it but I'd inquire. That's Plan A. After that Id sign a good vet Qb like a Shaun Hill or Matt Hasselbeck with Geno as second string.
Raiders scare me cause they could use a Cooper for Derek Carr, but the Raiders need defense badly. Raiders will probably select Leonard Williams, though.
You want to take a running back coming off an ACL tear with a first round pick? I'd stay far away from both of them neither makes any sense. We have Ivory and Powell if you want to replace CJ then take a guy like Duke Johnson in the middle rounds. These workhorses in college don't work out anymore the late round running backs with less bumps and bruises are the better backs to have. Shonn Greene, Trent Richardson, ect no thanks
Yea that's usally what you do when you lack talent at major positions you trade down to stock pile picks that we all know will never see the field in a Jets uniform
Ever the optimist. I am suggesting that we trade down for value players in late round one or in round two that will not only start but have upside to become pro bowlers. I am not advocating the Idzick strategy of staying put when you have twelve draft picks and using all twelve of them with no trades.
We talk about it every year that the Jets should trade down, but they never do. If Winston, Cooper aren't available then please trade down.
