Geno's under contract for next yr so you bring him in an let him compete for the job...what's the big deal?

But if anyone thinks this one game changes the organizations opinion of whether they need to get another QB somewhere they need to have their head examined.

One thing about Geno, he is durable. He took that helmet hit by Cameron Wake and just kept playing.

Let him compete next year with a real challenger, and draft a rookie to groom in the second/third round.

That may be. But Rex wasnt hired to develop a QB. I know technically that is the head coaches job but Rex was brought here to build a defense and be the face of a franchise. He did both pretty well in my opinion.

Schotty failed with Sanchez and Marty is currently failing with Geno.

If the next coach we hire is a guy who's spent most of his career calling offensive plays , Im not gonna get on him when the defense sucks.

exactly - on his cheap contract it would be crazy not to bring him back - he clearly has some ability and maybe it will come together for him and if it doesn't, its not the end of the world, its not like we haven't had plenty of 2nd round picks that didn't pan out.

Yes, I do....and after this past season, I believe there will be an open competition...Geno's past the 'let's give him a chance' phase IMO, esp. with a new regime.

really you leave out some other disturbing facts how many of his interceptions were returned for tds?
Fumbles or turn overs that stopped drives?
Yes Geno was forced to start be he regressed he has a total of 47 turn overs in two years. that is not coaching that is piss poor play, he can't play under center he cant read a defense plays too loose with the ball and wild.
Sorry Geno the living turn over is not a starter in the nfl he is barely back up and not even that till he learns not to turn the ball over.
below is the list geno now heads the list with 40 soi is peyton nope look at the tds? chances are he is tony freaking banks a guy we can all agree is a backup at best

Geno has actually convinced people today that he has a chance to be a good QB.

that deceptive son of a bitch caught them all hook, line, and sinker.

He'll be turning the ball over like it's going out of style if he gets to start next season. But he'll show up for week 17 I'm sure.

I don't even know what you're trying to tell me. I was just stating that the above was showcased the literacy of an elementary school student.

Stats wise, he improved. Record wise, the JETS did not have a winning season but his numbers show improvement from year one to year two. I'm not saying he should be handed the starting job for next year but he is improving.

    Couple of points:

    1) A lot of QBs on that list are actually not bad: Peyton Manning obviously, but Drew Bledsoe was a really good QB, Kerry Collins went to the Superbowl, Jake the Snake Plummer was a decent NFL QB for a while, and Alex Smith is a good game manager type QB. So just being on that list does not guarantee a QB sucking.

    2) With a young QB like Geno, you want to see improvement. He's had 40 turnovers in his first 2 years, yes, but look at it on a yearly basis. His rookie year, he had 21 INTs and 4 lost fumbles = 25 TOs, this year he had 13 INTs and 3 lost fumbles = 16 TOs. That's a big improvement.

I agree that he's improved from year 1, but regarding the turnover numbers keep in mind that he started only 13 games this year.

I think he will be our starter next season, although that is subject to change depending on how the new coach and GM feel. I just don't see a "better" option but he will have to win the job in camp. We aren't getting Mariota or Winston, no other rookie QB would start right away, and there isn't an obviously better veteran in free agency.

Geno did well for himself since being put back in the lineup. I'd like to see him under a new head coach that is known more for offense and developing QBs. Rex's system is designed to make a QB fail, his overall philosophy is just not conducive to a good offense.
