Discuss. Edit: My news update had cbssports reporting it, now I can't find it anywhere. Found it: "The Jets are parting with Ryan, and, league sources said, general manager John Idzik as well, with owner Woody Johnson already bringing in consultants to help with that process. Former NFL general manager Charley Casserly is among them -- he is very high on Bowles -- and Mora is also viewed as a very strong candidate within that organization, sources said. On the GM side, Houston scouting director Mike Maccagnan has long ties to Casserly, while the team is also expected to interview Minnesota assistant general manager George Paton, Browns assistant general manager Morocco Brown, Houston director of pro personnel Brian Gaine among others." http://mweb.cbssports.com/nfl/write...s-and-bears-expected-to-make-coaching-changes
If this is the best that Casserly can come up with then this guy is who we thought he was! I guess we will be flying another banner next year.
Oh don't say no now. Fans wanted to clean house....now you gotta find candidates, just take whatever comes your way. You asked for this Jet fans.
There's worse than Mora. He's done a good job at UCLA. Maybe they think he'll be another Pete Carroll. Another guy who was mistakenly fired by an impetuous owner.
That's not fair, while I still want rex fired, I wanted JI to be given a chance to pick his HC. Mora being considered is not on Jets fans, it's on Woody and this clown Casserly who could not put a team together in 4 years in Houston. However I don't think he can be the only one being considered. JMO
well, if he gets it, they will stick in a 3-4 not sure if thats good or bad. who would he bring as o.c. is my big question
I agree that there's no way he's the only candidate being considered. He's only the first name out there so of course they're going to say he's a top candidate. Should be more names floating out there over the next few days.
Here we go: "The Jets are parting with Ryan, and, league sources said, general manager John Idzik as well, with owner Woody Johnson already bringing in consultants to help with that process. Former NFL general manager Charley Casserly is among them -- he is very high on Bowles -- and Mora is also viewed as a very strong candidate within that organization, sources said. This is a mean, wicked sad day for Patriots fans, no Ryan or Idzik to kick to the curb anymore. Every day a little rain must fall and today it's pouring! Oh well, with the Jets, crawling around on the ground is not a sometimes thing, it's an every day thing...they'll be back at the bottom in no time!
Jim Mora Jr. is actually not a bad choice. I am not in love with it but there are some positive aspects about it. 1) He has HC coach experience which most of the so called top candidates do not (And he can actually be a HC unlike Rex) 2) I would bet he has a better winning percentage than Rex as a HC ( and Like Rex took his team to the NFCCG in his rookie year) 3) He has been around some good organizations (SF, SD, SEA) 4) He has bounced back from his last NFL job to be a successful HC at a prime college program If we get him maybe we go after Hundley who I believe will end up having a better NFL career than Mariotta or Winston. (Probably would have to trade down in 2nd or up from 3rd) Although he has many of the same drawbacks as the top 2 QB prospects. One X factor would still be the O coordinator as he is a defensive guy.
