Clean sweep of the entire organization. Scouts, Coaches, trainers, GM, gotta go. Anything less the Idzik Rex & Bradway gone is a mistake. Dunbar should be retained on the coaching staff but that's about it.
If I thought we could end poverty with a plane message, we would pay to fly one... For now, we will stick to realistic goals like helping to fix our favorite football team's front office. But please don't let our priorities get in the way of YOUR fundraising campaign where you attempt to "end poverty". I will donate the first $25.
First off - last I read you were done. Like we weren't going to be subjected to your drivel anymore. The Jets are now and forever worse off because of your Billboard and antics. So instead of achieving your goal you fucked it up royally. If the Jets fired JI without your crap (which was still likely), Woody may not have appeared to be a total ass wipe nincompoop caving in to pressure from fans and media in how to run his franchise. But now their is absolutely no doubt about that which will completely dissuade any legitimate GM candidate from wanting to come here.
Ha... You have been wrong the whole time... Why admit defeat now, right? Might as well go down with the ship creating more nonsense rhetoric.
Clearly, everyone doesn't know that. many people think he's fucked up the Jets quite enough in two years and shouldn't be given any more time to fuck things up. and, really, if everyone were jumping off a bridge would you follow them?
If Idzik is fired, then so be it. It would be a mistake, in my opinion. I look foward to the next gm who will come in spend all of our cap money on older players, trade all of our draft picks for older players just so we can be bounced out of the playoffs or worse never qualify for the playoffs. It would look like the Tannenbaum yrs. Then watch as these same fans whine to build through the draft. I look foward to the cycle repeating itself.
Yup. That's the problem. I get it. I guess we fire his ass. It's a shitstorm either way. Jet football.
So, in your world, Idzik is the only guy with the plan to build through the draft and who won't overspend on aging vets?! At least Tannenbaum oversaw a couple of deep playoff runs. That's more than Idzik will likely EVER provide.
The report card isn't out yet on Idzik. It's just mid semester for him Trying to get somebody fired for no good reason isn't a smart goal imo. You don't fix a FO like that. A true professional wouldn't listen to that crap. But the owner of the Jets is a lightweight. He even went to a Jets game on the weekend his own daughter died.
3-11 is no good reason? Having the same needs on most of the units--for two straight years--is not a good reason for a GM to get fired?! Like your friend, you're clearly living in a Jets universe where wishes are as good as actual ability.
It takes years to evaluate a draft class. You have draft picks that are on your practice squad and not ready to contribute until their 3rd or 4th seasons. You have struggling players that it takes time for them to get it, injured players that you don't know anything about. There are a lot of variables that goes into it. That's why you can't judge a draft within its first year or two. The 2014 Jets weren't ready to seriously contend so why spend so much money just to be a fringe playoff team? You spend money only when you think you're ready to take that step.
I'm not evaluating the draft class--what is left of it. I'm evaluating the GM and the totality of his moves has left me very underwhelmed. it's not just the draft class that is underwhelming. It's his handling of the cap, his handling of free agency, it's all left me feeling that the jets would be better served moving in a different direction. I think the Jets would be better served by having someone with the bonafides in talent evaluation running the team. Or someone competent...
Many make the same comment regarding Geno, he was great value at 39, Kiper liked him, we he a need etc. the reality is that 38 preceding picks past on Geno for a reason, including the Jets. Despite Geno being drafted in the 2nd round his cost to the jets was comparable to that of a 1st round pick inasmuch as they devoted 2 full seasons to Geno that set the team back considerably. Kiper may have liked him ppredraft but many others did not. There was a scathing Yahoo article stating that Geno was dumb as a rock, a poor leader and a byproduct of the WV system - all of which have been borne out and ppredraft opinions shared by other GMs hence his drop in the draft. In a results environment there is no mulligan for Idzik on Geno. Also, it is not like Idzik made up for it with a lot of other quality picks with his other 19 selections.
We have a difference in opinion then. Because I think the talent of the Jets is better than 3-12. The head coach six years under his belt so to me a fair sample size. I also hope then when he leaves the clown stuff goes with him. I think Idzik tried to stop it and have a more professional style of operation but with no support from ownership from the beginning we can't be one of the smarter teams.
The Jets are rebuilding. He signed Decker to fill a need, and signed Patterson as a stopgap and Giacomini to replace Howard, he signed Chris Johnson to boost the run game. 3 out of those 4 signings worked. Idzik is trying to develop young talent and allowing them to play and gain experience. He could've signed a bunch of vets to placate folks like yourself, but Idzik had a long term vision. He wasn't going to spend a bunch of money at this moment. When we get to a point where we are legit contenders then he'd spend money for players to help get us over the top. Right now it's about developing and evaluating talent.
