I would agree. If we can't get Harbaugh/Brian Kelly/Gus Malzahn, Id prefer to keep rolling with RR and keep flipping the roster. I am almost certain we will hire some dickstain like Jim Schwartz or Hue Jackson.
How could anyone want Rex back It's time for a change Rex is a mediocre HC, he knows jack shit about offense, has horrible time management, and hasn't had a winning record in some years know. 1 and 5 after bye weeks, doesn't hold anybody accountable.
#3...The one thing that could play against this is if the owner respects Rex's wanting to get another HC position.
If it's a clean sweep you'll see a big name as the new HC and very possibly de facto GM as well. The Jets aren't going to clean house and bring in a low profile guy who might get rolled by the metro area media. That'd be catastrophic for the organization. If Idzik gets fired it's going to be because he couldn't cow the media. The next guy will be making reporters cower.
Idzik will go because he could not do his job. 12 picks in the draft, and we still suck at WR? Get rid of the bum.
If ( when ) Idzik is indeed fired, It will be beneficial to just about everyone to have Rex stay on board at least until the new GM is selected. Putting the blame where it's deserved - We all know Woody likes Rex, and obviously respects him tremendously. If he believes ( as many do ) Rex was a victim of poor roster management rather then being a poor coach, we can give his reputation a little bump by throwing the real culprit to the sharks on Monday. Let the new GM decide that Rex isn't ( or is, see #3 ) the guy for the NY Jets anymore and it looks more like a poor GM/Coach match as opposed to a failed coach. Doing right by Rex before the good jobs are gone doesn't mean a thing. If teams select a candidate within the first 2-3 days without waiting to see how things shake out around the league then they were planning on going with that candidate already. It makes no sense to hire someone immediately and all the best coaches will most likely be shopping around their abilities to get the best position / price tags. Rex Might be the guy, Or maybe he's not, But we should let the new GM decide that. If we fire Rex, and the new GM decides he's still the best option available, then we would have to eat crow to re-hire a coach we just fired? Will make woody and the team seem foolish. Overall I agree with the OP though, Keep Rex through Monday.. Let Idzik take the hardest of the falls.
I hope the Devils didn't give Woody any ideas about having co-coaches lol. I would have expected this organization to do something stupid like having Rex be the defensive coach and some other guy (Marty or whomever) be the offensive co-coach.
My interpretation of this thread: "Rex is the best 3-13 coach in history" It is fucking comical all the Rex love around here. Everyone else in this organization sucks for a minute and they are busts, need to be gotten rid etc., but this fucking clown as been mediocre at best for 4 years, has not improved in one single aspect of being a head coach in 6 years, yet he might be the best option? LOL
So you think the Jets going after recycled OC's and unproved DC's around the league, is better than teams like the Bears , Falcons and Niners going after Rex? Please explain that one.
There is absolutely ZERO chance that Rex is a head coach next year. ZERO.....possibly less. Id say he has a bout a 10 % chance of ever being a HC again in his life time....0% for next year
agreed. Its complete lunacy dude. People actually believe that teams are gonna be banging on Rex's door as soon as he gets fired.
After what happened the last two years nobody worth anything is going to take the Jets GM job with Rex still on board.
Everyone knows this guy is not a head coach. has a 3-13 coach ever been fired and then hired by another team to coach for the following season??? I cant think of any
He will get a head coaching job, and he'll have short term success at his next stop, but eventually he will flame out once again. Until Rex Ryan, becomes a more well rounded coach, he will not be able to achieve long term sucess. But look for Atlanta to hire him if they lose on Sunday, apparently their owner loves Rex and wants a "player's head coach", who can control young, knuckleheads.
